Well diverse group of officers with good leadership, many opportunities for advancement, and good job security. However, the pay is below what many other small municipalities are paying that have a much smaller work load.

Its definately a good place to start and get some very good training and expirience. Then you can decide if it works for you or not. I have no regrets....they have taken great care of me.
Leadership is not afraid to enter the field with its fellow officers. Pay could be a little bit better...
High Turn over rate, low pay
Mobile can afford to pay Police Officers more than other agencies that are not near the size of Mobile.

It's a great Academy and the training is great. The only thing that is wrong is the pay.
because mobile is a fast growing city and will only become great over time
As a individual, I have talked with many and seen the changes..I have experianced the officers on the beat and think they are excellent in handling affairs with families but the culture should have more awareness of diversity...They are younger but more assuring as to improvements..more is needed!

you dont get your 5% merit rasies, insurance is going up,patrol vehicles are mostly old & always tearing up But the city just annexed western part of mobile to gain millons in taxes,annexed the airport 1 million esitmated taxes BUT NO RASIES IN SIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to love police work to hang around here or be to old to start some were else

We just reacently got a new Cheif,and we will need time to see his leadership skills.The department stability is some what shakey,due to officer using it as training to go with other departments in the area.The pay is less than other departments in the area and is the main reason for our turn over rate.

Mobile Police Dept is great place to learn how to police, due to wide varity of calls for service,and the abundance of calls.The pay and benifets could be better,but it not bad. If you are looking for a high tempo, fast pace enviorment join up. But the hiring process is alittle slow.
personal reasons!!!! Unless this Dept has drastically changed in the last 10 yrs I stand by my assessment.
This is a good department to work for across the board.
