Poor leadership at upper and lower levels. Very little consideration for officer safety and well being. Much lower pay in comparison with local departments. 19 layoffs have occured thus far, and apparently more to follow.

It is a well-known department all over Ohio. It also has great people who work for the department.
Unfortunate truth, department is micromanaged, promotions limited, and to achieve road status means that you will pay money for it. Turnover rate possibly over 10%, strict weight standard, with progressive discipline if unable to meet it.
Think long and hard, good for springboard to another department, but will not get peace officer status unless you financially pay for it.
The Sheriff's Office of Hamilton is one of the most prestigious Offices's in Ohio. The training and leadership you learn while in the Academy classes is priceless.
Be ready to be pushed to the limit in training, but at the same time you will mature.
