About Me:: Ever since I was a small child I have wanted to be a police officer. I began my law enforcement career/experience in 1995 as an Explorer for the Ashley County Sheriff's Office in Hamburg, Arkansas. After turning 21 I became a reserve deputy with the Drew County Sheriff's Office and later the Bradley County Sheriff's Office. While operating as a reserve deputy I attended college at the Univesity of Arkansas on the Arkansas Police Corps scholarship program and earned the nickname, "Hardcore" for my dedicated attitude towards the field of Law Enforcement. While in college I was the Founder and two-year elected President of the Association of Criminal Sciences. I was also a Senator for the Student Government Association representing the Social & Behaviorial Sciences Department and a member of the university's judiciary board. I was later a Charter member of Lambda Alpha Epsilon (American Criminal Justice Society) and was awarded the "Outstanding Contributions" award in 2002. After graduating from college with a B.S. and an A.A. in Criminal Justice & Political Science I attended the 6-month residential, Little Rock Police Training Academy and graduated February 12, 2004 with a 91% overall score (Firearms, Physical Fitness & Academics). After completing the academy I worked 5 months in the Pulaski County Detention Center as a Detention Deputy. I then accepted a patrol and Assistant School Resource Officer position with the city of Vilonia, Arkansas where I worked for almost 2 years. I am currently a Sheriff's Detective for the Saline County Sheriff's Office in Benton, Arkansas where I am also the Assistant Team Leader for the Special Weapons And Tactics unit. I am also a member of the Saline County Sheriff's Office Internet Child Predator Task Force and have assisted in 38 predator arrests to date! I am the proud father of 3 beautiful children (2 boys and 1 girl) and have been married to my beautifuI wife for 5 years. My wife works as a Charge Nurse (RN II) for a major hospital's Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and is very involved with scrapbooking on her off days. I have recently purchased a GIANT YUKON mountain bike and have taken up trail riding with my brother as an exercise! My wife and I also like to rappell and belay together. I studied Taiho-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu for close to 5 years and am working on becoming the Defensive Tactics Instuctor for my agency. I own the "Titanic: Lost & Found" exhibit that has been featured in many magazines, newspapers and even a television commercial. My exhibit was on display at the Museum of Discovery in Little Rock Arkansas for over a year and has been displayed at several libraries and universities since then. Recently the Titanic Museum in Branson, Missouri has purchased items from my exhibit for their display. I am a member of the Western Star #2 Masonic lodge in Little Rock, AR where I am a Senior Deacon and am also a member of my local F.O.P. Lodge #73. ********************************************************************************** Some years ago my oldest daughter ask me why I wanted to be a Police Officer so I wrote my answer to her in the form of a poem/letter: "Dear Daddy, why do you wear that badge and put yourself in harms way? Serving and protecting others for a nominal amount of pay. Why do you carry a gun that you may one day have to use? If it comes down to their life or yours, do you really think you could choose? Daddy, you choose to work the streets where dangers seem to always lie. We're afraid you might not come home one night, and what would we do if you were to die?.........Dear Children, God sometimes puts us in places we might not want to be. That is the time for us to be faithful and strong and be a light for others to see. My children, I go where God calls me and I trust He's always there. I do this job for you little ones, only because I care. I know the world we live in and I see it so full of hate. I witness such things as drug abuse, theft, murder and rape. Forgive me, my precious children for what I feel I must do. I wear this badge and carry this gun, only because I'm thinking of you. I love you. Daddy"
