    The best way to get a cop job isn't necessary through the explorer program or getting your feet in the door. Although it helps, I think it's more important to be mature and responsible in life. This will come out in your oral boards. If you are a person who gets along with others, have common sense, responsible and have a good moral and work ethics, you will be an asset to any department and they would gobble you up. Go for that degree. In today's day and age, a 4 year college degree is normal. So to just run with the herd, you need to get it, to lead the pack, well, get your PhD or Masters.
