Update: Rookie Was Serial Bank Robber

Officer Chistrian Torres has been linked to mutliple bank robberies.

NEW YORK (AP) – Investigators in New York say a rookie police officer known as a “model cadet” is linked to two bank robberies that happened last year in Manhattan.

Officials say Christian Torres robbed one bank of more than $16,000 and another of over $100,000 while serving as a cadet and enrolled in the police academy.

Authorities say Torres admitted being involved in the New York robberies while he was under questioning for a third heist that happened this past week in Pennsylvania. That robbery netted $113,000.

Officials say Torres used a fake handgun in 1 of the New York robberies, but Pennsylvania authorities say he used a real gun in the heist there. He was arrested in Pennsylvania after bank employees pointed out the car he was in to police.

A judge in Pennsylvania has set Torres’ bail at $1 million.

What a disappointment for the police force. Unfortunately humans affect our society as a whole. As a person entering law enforcement I know that I will run into police officers who should not be enforcing the law, doctors who should not be practicing medicine, judges who should not be hiding alcohol under the bench and so on...... How should this be handled? Just like any other criminal.
