Nice product, take a couple days to get the draw down good, I still use it tho
It's the only one I have ever used and I am used to it.....It will be the next one I get when this one wears out
In uniform this is the ONLY holster I'll wear.
I like it a lot. You have to practice, but it becomes second nature. Good product.
Takes a bit to break in, about 500 draws (both you and the holster). Great retention and wearability.
I have this one for my revolver. It takes a bit to get used too, but a little practice and I am getting a quicker draw.
Love this holster. Never had a single issue with it. My whole duty belt is made up of safarieland products/basketweave/with hidden snaps.
This is a MUST have for all law enforcement. I've seen it work in action with a guy on PCP tearin on it for about 5 mins during a 1 on 1 fight. The only thing that happened to it was the metal (holding the holster to the duty belt) was bent into an "L". The pistol stayed holstered. This saved our officer's life that night. Wish they could make something similar for pistols with tactical lights.
Secure, yes. Used one for a Sig P220, 1911 and a Glock. It is slow out of the holster and slow back (relatively speaking of course). It is possible to take the weapon out if the finger snap is not secured. Better holsters are available. So far no one has put rounds on target before me using this holster when I was using an SLS (reasonably secure) holster or a Tactical Desgin labs holster (very secure). I will try the ALS next, I am undecided on it as of yet. It is a fine balance between seure and fast.
This holster takes awhile to break in, but once broken in it offers a very fluid draw. I like it.
Carried my SIG 220 in this for a few years. I particularly liked the higher ride of this holster as it let me cover my gun with my elbow, which is comforting in crowded situations. The draw takes some time to get used to and you must practice. I also found it helpful to wear it slightly forward on my duty belt so it was easier to draw while seated in a vehicle.
This is the best duty holster ever created. I still have my first one. New the back snap can be difficult, but once you've broken it in its the best.
A great holster. I'm in plain clothes now but when I don the uniform it is the only holster I like.
That's the only kind I ever used too. Very hard to break in. Still I don't understand how anyone could ever use a bucket....
This product works and can save your life. A while back I was involved in a struggle with a bad guy, he grabbed for my gun but all he was able to do is lift me up by it.
I have to agree with most of the other posts on this one. I use this holster, and it is the only one I will use. I have had it tested once, and it never moved. It did take some practice getting used to it though. But now it rides well, draws smooth, and can save your life in a fight!
I ahve this holster for my S & W, love it. It was given to me by a close friend so it was already broken in. Love it!!!!
I agree with everyone else that this is a good holster. Secure and one broken in can be fast to draw from. Over the years we have continually broken a number of the shanks where it attaches to the belt. One even ripped completely off the belt. It was becoming a more common problem since we switched to them about 7 years ago. We are phasing them out now for the new Safariland Raptor holster. Same basic principle but with the newer materials and design it should be more reliable over the long run.
Great holster comfortable to carry and secures weapon well. A deputy I work with got in a tussle with a guy. The guy tried to get the deputies weapon. He grad the gun but was unable to get weapon. He even lift him up off the ground trying to get his weapon. Of course he went to jail the hard way.
I replaced my department issue with this holster
I replaced my department issued holster with the 0705 model. It is the same as this one, but with a 1 1/2" drop. Does take a while to break in, but as a duty holster, it is by far the best I have used. The retention level on this product is a must for all road officers.
Used it from 1996 - 2007, never had a problem with it. The instuctions, I know who needs those stinken instrctions, any way they are a must read. You should be able to draw and reholster with one hand not looking at it. Yes, it takes time to break in, but you must if you want tofeel confident wearing it. A Safariland Representative to ease the breaking in period, spray the inside with a good silicone spray, let it dry. If you have diffculty in closing the snaps, heat tem up with a hairdryer, not a flamless torch, then streach the strap over the back of the slide, do the same for the trigger guard snap also, DO BOTH WITH AN UNLOADED FIREARM, this procedure will make the break in go a lot faster.
In the short time I used this holster, it was one of the best. I actually have a left handed one for a Sig P-226 if anyone is interested. Gently used. Hell, still looks new. Comes with a dbl mag case for the Sig magazines. $80.00
I have carried three Safariland holsters so far in my career, and I can't imagine ever replacing this one. I bought one after it finally sank in via ODMP just how many brothers and sisters were getting their guns taken away. With this holster, plus PPCT, there is no way anyone is ever getting my gun! It really didn't take that much practice to build up the memory so that I could qualify with it; I probably had about an hour alone with it before qualifying. Since then (about 2 years now) it has become muscle memory and I can get my SIG P229 out of it pretty fast. Personaly, I decided that the extra fraction of an instant it takes on the draw is worth the extra security from a gun-grab. I use it for bicycle patrol too, and I have never had trouble drawing from it with gloves on either. Best holster in Safariland's line! The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because you can't use it with weapon-mounted lights. :(
It has a natural draw and great retention level. Good product.
I STARTED WITH IT AND IT AND I ALSO WILL GET ANOTHER ONE. GREAT HOLSTER. REAL GOOD IF SOMEONE TRIES TO GRAB YOUR WEAPON...
the retention is awesome and it is not hard to get the muscle memory down to draw quickly and smoothly.
Over my 30-year career I carried 6 different uniform duty holsters, and the 070 was by far the best of all of them. This is an excellent holster and no one should be intimidated by learning a new draw.
I DID NOT have any difficulty in learning the new draw, even though it was the opposite from what I had been using for many years. I will share that technique with any LEO who wants to PM me.
Make sure you take a few days to get used to this holster. Excellent retention...once you get used to it, it's the best and safest holster out there.
Saved my life more than 3 times -- I don't roll on-duty without it period .
A great holster...I have used one since 2000...
Worst holster on the market. Half the time the alledged safety strap won't even snap.(the majority of our agency doesn't even snap it. After repeated use, the thumb snap comes lose at the slightest touch. I perfer the Safariland model 295, which I used at my previous agency, but my agancy only authorizes this holster. I use it because I have to. No other reason
It does'nt quite act as a level 3 hoslter with my smith and wesson 40 ve. put a 40 cal sig in it and you can here it snap. my s&w does'nt snap when i put it the holster, i have to actually use the secondary snap or someone could easily disarm me. but it's the only holster i could find for the s&w 40ve.
One of the best holsters that I have owned
I have used this holster for 10 years and its still going strong. I know of nothing that could improve its use or durability. Thanks Safariland!
I woud like to have a more clear brochure sent to me if possible my add:
JR Pina P.O. box 2118 Fairfield Ca. 94533
Excellent holster. I have used this style for several years and have not had any problems with this holster. I would not give this holster up for anything less.
i love mine!
This holster is awsome, I have seen perps attempt to remove the weapon without sucsess. Save your like in a bad situation.
used to carry one of these. great holster.
Expensive, but beautiful! Oh yeah, plus it works good too :)
Hands down the best holster I have ever used. Like most others have said, it takes some time to break it in but once you do its great.
Works well, but there are other holsters out there that allow for quicker draw.
i cant get the trigger snap snapped, but other than that,,,,its a good holster
Gone through 2 in 14 years. Good holster
I have owned this holster for over a year now. amazing holster wouldnt cary anything else.
If they could make one of these for a Kimber TLE/RL II with a light, I would run out and get one. Great holster.
I carry a Beretta 92 and my SIG 226 in this holster and like the security function of it. If they made it in a high ride I think I would love it. I have a very long torso and my gun is low for me. I have used other holsters in the past, but I keep coming back to this one. We also issue the XD-9 but I can't seem to find this holster to fit it.
I loved this holster. I used it at my last department. It took a while to get used to it but once you get used to it I think it is the best holster out there. There were no fears that if you were involved in a ground fight with a suspect that he could get your gun. The snap on the inside of the hoslter was not visible and the bad guy and he did not know it was there keepng the gun safe.
Excellent holster. Like others have said, once you got used to it, all was fine.
I'm gonna give this holster 5 stars for now because i've heard great things about it and i just ordered one and haven't received it yet... i just hope it's as good as my Raptor. we'll find out soon.
I used this holster and loved it. Practice and you can be just as fast with it!
