| Description: | Ithaca Firearms Company made the Police Special/Military Edition of a parkerized shotgun. 12-guage. 18 shot tube. with a bayonet lug that doubled for a flashlight holder. After market sights can be added. |
Although the Firearms Company is in question if it will come back after it's bankruptsy. I bought this shotgun the same week I bought my Handgun. This was a frivolous thought on my part.
But a much needed item. the Ithaca Police Special 12guage shotgun is a must have for security and Law Enforcement. the tube or magazine runs 1-inch short of the end of the barrel and holds 18 in the tube and 1 in the chamber. I mixed between combat loads and double-00 buckshot.
A combat load, was 3 greased ball bearings. the slide out the barrel oblong in shape. When hitting the target they overlay just a half of an inch. The ejector by the trigger made it easily
available to eject the shell to load a double -00 shell quickly.
I never had any problems with my shotgun. I paid dearly for the laser sighting that was added years later at $469.00 for the laser sights, but it was wiorth it.
A Quality Shotgun for the price.
Very good accuracy, and intimidating to the person it's pointing at, lol
A qualifier now in PA, good kick to it!
Have had my Ithaca for over thirty years now. It came with a 20 inch police special deerslayer barrel. Orange front and a rear rifle sight. I killed half a dozen deer with this shotgun using rifled slugs. It shoots like a rifle.
Only drawback to the model in the 1960's was that you couldnt open the breach and throw a round in . Known as speed loading as you could with the 870. I still love my Ithaca. Been a great shotgun. Only reason I carried the issued S&W shotgun on duty was to keep my nice walnut stock on the Ithaca from getting beat up.
Nice weapon
Saw this about 1yr ago @ local sporting goods store. Never shot it. It has the "smooooooothest" racking assembly I've ever seen. Using only the edge of your fingernail, you can rack the slide back & forth. Only reason I didn't purchase then-the model I looked at was not chambered for 3" shells. I wanted an all-purpose gun for protection, patrol, hunting, slugs, etc with ability to use the 3" Nitro Express if wanted to. Do they make it in 3" availability? Though the one 1 looked at had a pistol grip stock???
