A very good book on the how to's of being a leader within an organization. Not necessarily a 'top dog' leadership book, its more of a reflective look at how to get things accomplished in an organization and overcome such speed bumps as 'impossible bosses', dealing with difficult people, taking on tough jobs, etc. The book stresses teamwork and helping out people below, above and next to you in the rank structure.
Nicely written by a very experience author (has written forty plus books and taught leadership principles at West Point, the NBA and NFL). A very practical books on leadership.
Sounds like a book I need to run out & purchase.
Well writen book with excellent insight. Very happy that I read it!
Great book. Gives great insight to working with those around you: above, below, and on the same level. Very valuable advice that when followed can help reduce those frustrations in your career.
The book lends itself well to teach empathy toward others and their positions. Everyone should read this book.
John C. Maxwell is a true "leader" in the leadership books section. This book encompasses a full look at middle management vs a leader breaking down any misconceptions and understandings, and then really pulling together some solid ideas which show how to lead effectively, regardless of your position in an organization.
I have been in some sort of leadership position since I turned 18 with the military. I have become a student of leadership shortly afterward. I really wish this book had been published when I became a young sergeant in the Army; truely a position of "leading from the middle" and having to utilize 360 degree leadership.
This book is an easy, but very informative read. No matter where you sit in the heirachy of your organization this book will be an assest. Immediately, you will notice that you are implementing the principles of this book.
