| Description: | This body armor is unique becuase inside the vest there is kevlar and overlapping plates to stop armor-peircing rounds Myself ive never worn it so i dont know how it feels to wear in cold or hot this armor is also extremly flexibal due to not having heavy SAPI plates but the wieght of this body armor is 47.5 lbs and Defense Review has confirmed it. Dragon Skin body armor appears to be significantly superior in every combat-relevant way to U.S. Army, and it can be used for officer if they get into drawn out sticky situations and SWAT if they end up figting perps with high caliber ammo and this armor could just save your life |
I gave this armor 4 stars becuase of its protectiong but only 4 stars becuase of the wieght and controversy around it
The Dragonskin Body Armor is very flexable and comfortable to wear (aside from the weight). I would not recommend this product though due to multiple factors. The weight makes it very hard to stay mobile for long periods of time if you have excess gear or a backpack you need to carry. Also while the protection is better than that of army general issue, the difference is just a redundancy when paired with the weight.
ill give it 4 stars because i have heard of this before i got out of the Marine Corps. I heard that it DID pass most or all its testing but when they field tested it in iraq, the heat over in the sand box made the "dragon skin" outter portion actually started falling off because the heat was melting it. it sounds like an awsome piece of gear, but im not sure if id was to wear it if i had to make entry into a room.
After doing extensive research on this product, I feel that it is one of the most under rated pieces of personal protection equipment. This body armor should be standard equipment for all of our military personnel in the line of fire. I believe due to its higher cost over the traditional ceramic body armor it is not the governments #1 choice to equip its soldiers with. The future of body armor is finally realized, it’s just sad that the government is down playing its effectiveness. Also remember Murphy’s Law; Your Weapon Was Made By The Lowest Bidder.
I give this item a three star rating due to its weight and its weight alone. When something is made like this, all aspects of a soldier has to be taken into consideration. Agility in this case, wasnt taken into consideration. Yes it stops rounds! But, it also slows soldiers. Its bad enought that the heat in the middle east is as hot as it is. The price is also something that should be taken into consideration. There are other products that are just as strong and way less expensive, not to mention more agile.
I give this thing one star becuase the lining holidng the scales will literally melt in high tempatures, and at 47.5 lbs a soldier or officer can barley move , and its armor has never been rated over lvl III even though they created a fake labal saying level 5 hence the ban.
saw it on future weapons.
For the Pinnacle Team I want to thank you for a outstanding product. I am on my second Dragonskin in 10yrs( my level 3 is retired) I now have the 4 A here in Iraq and I love it. I can say the ballistics chart is off the hook and truly is a great product as I can say with proof that after a multiple hit from a SVD dragunov in Iraq I am still here to tell about it. Thanks for a great product well worth the money BAR NONE.....
Everything I've seen on this has been all good......
thats stuff is great i dont care about the controversie
