Although I prefer my Taser over the baton, I still carry this piece on my belt. I chose this one because it is VERY lightweight but still have the striking effect of the heavier batons.
A great piece of equipment to have on your belt, and the light weight is a plus. I am not one who likes the Taser so I do like having this intermediate weapon available. It does the job as well as it's regular full weight steel brother.
Its CRAP! I have been in several situations where I used my old regular weight Asp. I have partners that have the worse air weight. All the weight is in the handle, so if u use it upside down it may work better. Leaves nice red marks on surface but just has no effect other than the sting(much like a twig/branch). Junk it and go with the better made Winchester or RCB. I did, used it and was very happy. My arm wasnt soar from swinging it so hard because the weight is at the tip of the baton. Its a little heavier (by ouncese) but if you need to bitch about that, then maybe you shouldnt be doing a job where you might need to use such an item.
I agree, I have better luck with my fixed straight baton.
This is the best thing sense sliced bread. It holds up great and is very light.
I have this in my personal Truck. It's nice to have. We have a lot of car jackings. It's an effective piece of equipment.
WE just recently trained with the collapsible baton. I love the way it sounds when it opens. It's much easier to carry then a full lenght straight baton. But, I will always spray them first, if I can.
I love the ASP stainess steal baton. IIt is lightweight and durable. I think the shinny stainless steal baton look like a Lightnng Bolt as it comes down during the strike.
Big impact in a compact and convenient carry package.
this is a GREAT piece of equipment to have. i carry it near the front of my belt and just the site of it scares some people i come in contact w/ more so than my pistol
The idea might have been good if it had maybe a little more weight. Since you are really not giving up that much weight anyway, stick with the heavier expandable models. This one will bend if you realy blast someone.
I carry it on my belt everyday, don't have to use it very often, but effective when I have used it...
I work in plain clothes and I still carry one everyday. It is a very useful tool and while in patrol I used to carry a straight stick and at least when you get out on a call you have your ASP with you instead of in the car like a straight stick.
Excellent addition to any duty gear. This airweight baton is good for plain clothes and uniformed officers. With all the weight that duty officers already have to carry this baton does not add much weight.
It's a good tool. It's compact. The problem is that it's really not as strong as the other kinds of baton that is in one piece (i.e. side handled baton, or the old school straight stick). DO NOT solely rely on this tool...have a, or a multiple, back up plan. I used this product, or similar to it, for about two years while on a specialized unit, but when I returned patrol, I felt more comfortable with my Prosecutor 24, or side handled baton.
yeah baby its azz whippin time
