YOU CAN DO SO MUCH MORE WITH THIS THAN AN EXPANDABLE

The best piece of defensive weaponry ever devised for LEOs.

One whack and you will have their undivided attention! Usually the first thing to fly off the belt in a foot pursuit though.

Very effective tool here. It can be used in more ways than an ASP, but is bulky to carry. It dont do much good in the car either as I have seen it gets left in the car about as often as it get put on the belt.

In all the tools I've been issued over the years, this is one of the best.It is extrremely versitile and can be used in many situations from attack to defense to vehicle extrication. I agree mwith many others here that it can be bulky and ofter akward when running, or entering and exiting the vehicle. I still prefer it to the expandables but our department has long ago quit using the pr-24 due to "the california choke hold" damaging afew throats. ......BUT IT WORKED REALLY WELL if you know what I mean.

I carried the PR-24 expandable (http://www.batons.com/pr24.aspx) for years and found it to be an excellant impact weapon. The sound it made when you opened it made people take a few steps back... Nice intimidator. I now carry a 21" ASP and have a wood baton available when I need it.

Too bulky, and in our use of force model (placed above taser and OC) it would hardly get used. I like the ASP as I have enough stuff on my belt.

When I carried the PR-24 I thought it was good. It was a bit bulky and cumbersome but you got used to it. After switching to the ASP, I'd never want to carry the PR-24 again. The ASP is smaller, more compact, and much more of an attention getter- both physically and mentally.

I have one of the original PR 24, even though nobody in NM trains with them I still carry mine on Private Uniform detail. All other times I carry a 16" ASP, or an off-market 26" depending. I teach both in my Martial Arts and LE classes.

Good tool but I like the ASP better. The non-collaspable sticks are a thing of the past. I like to carry one of these in my car for something quick and handy.
