This is what my agency issues and is also our only authorized pistol for off-duty carry. I envy the older Officers in my agency who still have the Glock 17, but this pistol has slowly but surely grown on me--hell, it's the ONLY firearms with which I've EVER shot a Perfect score on an official qual course (Expert plenty of times, yes, but Perfect only once), military or civilian. Also enabled me to win a Bronze Medal on the 2-man Semi-Auto Pistol Combat Course at the Nevada Police & Fire Games. The DA trigger is reasonably smooth with the LEM re-set and allows for a decent shot cadence during semi-rapid fire strings.
Reliable with every load I've put through it, fits my hand nice (the ease of changing grip size is a BIG plus), and pretty darn compact, though awkward and uncomfy for AIWB (11 o'clock or 1 o'clock) concealed carry, comfy enough for 3 o'clock concealed carry.
The mag release is still a bit awkward, and the trigger still doesn't enable me to shoot the type of groups I get with a Glock, Beretta 92FS, or 1911. Still, a fine weapon (which I've come to expect from HK) and one that I'm willing to trust with my life both on- and off-duty.
