| Description: | Ruger Security Six. Chrome 6 shot 357 revolver. Mostly everyone in PA in the 80's and early 90's carried revolvers. |
I used this as a primary duty weapon in the late 80's and early 90's. I would have loved to had a .45 auto, but everyone had revolvers in PA back then
A security six in .357 mag. was my first duty gun. I still have it and wish I was allowed to carry it on duty. Very powerful calibre. No need to worry about a malfunction EVER. Accurate as can be. When I started with the sheriff's dept. in 1988 we had to purchase our own equipment. We had to carry a revolver in either .38spl. or .357 magnum. I never felt underguned and with speedloaders could reload in the blink of an eye. I currently carry a ruger SP-101 as a back-up, off duty piece. I wish the powers that be would still allow the ol security six as my duty gun. Oops did a l already say that??
Mine was the .38 model. By far the best weapon I have EVER owned. July 1993 I was involved in a shootout with a skell - this weapon did not fail on me, I was part of the first class of the NYPD that was issued this (after they charged me around $300), with a spurless hammer in silver - double action only. In 1995 I had to give this baby up to carry the 9mm SW 5946 - I still own this revolver and take it to the range often.
never thought much of this revolver. if you want a strong dependable ruger revolver, get the gp 100
Great 357mag.
ONE OF THE FINEST .357'S I HAVE EVER OWNED OR HAD THE PLEASURE OF SHOOTING. I ORGINALLY BROUGHT MINE WITH A 2 INCH BARREL FOR CONCEALED CARRY, BUT FOUND IT MORE SUITED FOR HUNTING OR STEEL TARGETS AFTER I CHANGED THE BARREL TO 6 INCH
