| Description: | Smith & Wesson Model 1911, SKU: 108282, .45 ACP 8+1 Semi-Auto Handgun |
I started looking at model 1911's after qualifying for my CHL with a Glock G27 .40 Caliber which was a great conceal weapon but uncomfortable to shoot. I looked at a lot of guns and narrowed it down to either a Kimber or the Smith; either would have been a good choice. After reading a lot of reviews for both, I went with the Smith. I LOVE THIS GUN! It is not very good for concealed carry but it is easily accessible in my auto. I would recommend the SW1911 to anyone looking for a large frame .45ACP.
Good weapon, patrol guys have to carry 4 mags on the belt though cause of single stack mags. Shoots straight low recoil and good takedown power.
I was looking to get the Taurus 1911 when i came upon the S&W. I purchased for about $930 with tax. I qualified easy with the gun. Ever since I got the Galco Concealable belt holster from Lapolice gear. I carry this gun full time concealed from the time I get dressed until I get undressed. I find it no problems with the right shirts and the Galco holster that it conceals rather easy on my medium/small frame with no print. I live in the desert so I wear mine with a WoolRichEliteTactical series conceal carry short sleve dress shirt. The only issue I do not like but live with due to the extended coil rod. The front retaining clip is difficult to do with out the tool S&W provides. Other then that I trully believe in this gun for protection. Goes very well with my 38 Special +P snub nose backup.
For me, it is sturdy, reliable and easily obtained sight picture with the knock down power to take an assailient out with.
I like the feel and the stopping power of the 1911 series. The low magazines capacity is not a total bummer; if you need four magazines to bring down an asshole, I think you are in the wrong line of work. One shot one kill.
One Mean Gun!
Just had the chance to shoot this at the range. A fellow officer had it. Shoots great. Has a little size to it. Not sure it would be a good fit for smaller hands. Good ballance, power.
I would not like to be on the reciving end of this.
i loved my 1911, now if the army would let me carry it on duty it would be a great day
