| Description: | M1911 Colt 45 MK IV Series 80 Government Model |
This is my favorite gun. I sleep with it every night.
Technically, the M1911 is a recoil operated, locked breech semi-auto pistol. It has a single action trigger with a frame mounted safety that locks the hammer and the slide. The hammer could be locked either in cocked or in lowered position, allowing the gun to be carried in "cocked and locked" state, with safety on, hammer cocked and round chambered. Additional automated safety is incorporated into the rear of the grip and locks the action when the gun is not held in the hand properly.
one fine 1911. colt never has made any junk
I grew up shooting my uncle's Colt that he carried throughout WWII. I carry a Combat Elite as my uniform duty gun and a Colt Defender since I was in the drug task force and now in detectives. I didn't see the details when I went to review this product, but I love my Colt's.
great shooter, on my list to purchase
Carried this when I was in the AF (many-many-many years ago). Great weapon.
would carry two if they let me, don't change a thing on it it's perfect.
Finest piece of art evere made!!!!!
Grew up admiring this pistol, and admired it even more when i fired it. One of the best ever made.
Greatest weapon ever made....
One of the best guns in history!
I love my 1911 for personal use. Yes it is big, and it makes a very clear sound when racked. Easy and simple to use, lots of power.
This a top quality firearm one of Colt's best...
From full size Government down to Defender, I shot 'em factory to tricked out. When a design can last for 100 years without major changes you can't argue that. When it ain't broke, don"t fix it.
nice gun
There are many like it these days. Make no mistake; COLT is the #1 orginal which all others follow. Enough said.
I love this weapon, I used to carry COLT .45 model 1991A1 series 80. Granted it is only a single action weapon. Now i carry a Springfield .45 1911A1 model set up with a laser and rail-lite.
Best all around handgun. Great stopping power. Does very well in adverse conditions.
Just one good piece of iron. Great ergonomics. Currently have the Gov't, Commander, and Officer's. All three perform great. For those looking to get one, I would, however, suggest the "enhanced - radiused" undercut beneath the trigger guard which makes it sit nice in your hand, and a Wilson or Smith & Alexander slide stop (I've seen a few of the "stock" Colt ones break).
