| Description: | The new Ruger SR9 is the only striker fire pistol that Ruger makes. Has 17+1 capacity and has ambidextrious safety and mag release. It also has a reversible back strap. |
I just got mine for $440. Took it to the range and shot pretty good groups with it. I love the switchable backstraps. I swore that I would never buy a Ruger but then I put one of these in my hand at the local gun shop and loved how it felt. It has the light rail plus it has ambidextrious safety and mag releases. I am a Glock man through and through - but I had to get this one. I am also not a big fan of the 9mm. My duty weapon of choice is a .45 - but I find the 9mm rounds are a little cheaper for target shooting.
Let me start by saying that the sight picture on the SR9 is incredible. It is light, and what I would consider the perfect firearm for concealed carry. However, the first time I took it to the range, it was misfiring 3/5 shots. While the ambidextrous mag release is great, loading the mag is EXTREMELY difficult and tight. So, I sent it back to Ruger in May to fix. While it was in the factory, all other SR9s were recalled due to some other malfunction. It is now JULY and i STILL do not have the gun back. The Customer Service at Ruger is TERRIBLE, but I love the gun itself.
Good gun, good price. I bought it for target and for concealed carry. Feels really nice, easy to shoot, and high capacity, Manual safety was a must for me. I'm no gun expert, I just know I like this gun.
I bought this pistol for the police academy, and was irritated to find out about a week before I started that there was a recall on it. However I did wonderful at the Range with it and shot some really dialed in shots with it. Lightweight, which was great. I was impressed with it and so was some of my instructors who tried it out.... the ambidextrious safety and mag release are nice and ... lol... I also love that it is hammerless. I sent it into Ruger to get the issue on the recall fixed and they had it fixed within a week and a half or so and made changes to it. Its a good price, good gun, NEVER had any jams or malfunctions with it and put hundreds and hudreds of rounds through it.
