often overlooked, but a fine patrol rifle
Should not be the issued patrol rifle but definitely available with each shift.
Why not? If used with soft-point ammo, it has been reported as very reliable and quite lethal. You run into a problem when you use hardball ammo in such a small caliber, just like the 9x19mm.
Very good rifle. I own one myself. I aquired mine just in the past year. Have had no problems with Hard ball ammo. The soft lead ammo keeps jamming though. Overall a very reliable weapon. Easy to care for and operates well in almost any condition. Would make a decent patrol rifle. 15rd, 20rd or 30rd magazine. be cautious of the after market 30rds magazines. do your research.
Fun weapon....a lot of history......love mine!
Compared to all other rifles it's a wimp . But, at 150 meters it still delivers balistics of a 357 Mag. Reading the history is was designed for support troops, later adapted for paratroopers. I've carried one for years in the trunk. With soft point ammo, it's hard to beat for urban settings when you concerned about how many houses a round could pass through from a 5.56 or 7.62. DON"T BUY A PLAINFIELD manufactured M1 Carbine!!!
Its a great little plinking gun
A favorite of Officers and Airborne troops in WWII this little .30cal rifle was used extensively in LE agencies throughout the 50-70's. It is reliable for short to medium range use but quickly loses it's punch and accuracy at greater distances.
