| Description: | a 9mm glock look alike. inexpensive, easy break down. Fires underwater. And with certain models could be mistaken for a glock. |
I always considered the 9mm a ladies handgun. Now I work for a company that requires you to purchase a handgun, either in 9mm or 40cal range. I chose the Glock, but with the price tag, it was a bit on the steep side for my income. A friend suggested I talk with a State Police Officer I did. He suggested I see a friend of his, I did. This guy knew the new Smith and Wesson SW9GVE models, they are a glock look alike. Break downs are easy and a snap. Cleaning and jammings are a thing of the past. You want a handgun like the glock that can fire underwater, and has the same durability? Then the new Smith & Wesson 9gve is for you. This model comes with 2 standard 15 shot clips. The trigger uses the same bent trigger safety the glock has. If the weapon is dropped it will not go off accidently. And the best thing, if you want a glock and cant afford it, there is the allied forces model 9gve, all black 9. It looks so close to a glock, it will fool a lot of people.
I plan to carry 4 clips. 1 clip marked as FMJ and 3 marked APR. Military people know these meanings. APR is for anti-personnel rounds or ball ammo, FMJ full metal jacket, used for dismanteling a car. Basically a full metal jacket ammo can be fired at the front of the car and penetrate the engine block slowing the car down quite a bit. The apr rounds are what you shoot at someone, to hit in the body or leg area.
Ok a Glock cost about the same. Otherwise what are you talking about in the rest of you review. Have you ever fired a fmj into an engine block of a car coming toward? If not how do you know it will "slow down" before it hits you?
Ok, jbeams, I have NO IDEA what the heck you are talking about. I only write this review so that there is an actual review here instead of meaningless babble.
The Smith and Wesson SIGMA SW9 and variants are pistols designed to incorporate many of the features made popular by the Glock 17. It features a polymer frame and an internal safety very comparable to Glock's Safe Action Trigger.
The SIGMA performs very well and is decently reliable. In my experience it is a bit picky regarding ammunition and likes to hang up with some of the lower cost ammo out there.
All around a good gun for the money, but it is definitely not in the same league as a Glock 17 or a Springfield XD. I certainly leave this one in the safe whilst I have Glocks and XDs in my collection, but it is good for teaching new shooters and having fun while out plinking.
I do think that the factory sights on the SIGMA are superior to those on the Springfield, but that is the only advantage I have been able to find, and they are still sub-par when held up against a Glock.
P.S. No bullet fired out of a 9MM handgun is going to penetrate the block of an engine and it is highly unlikely that you will be able to disable the vehicle even with your 4 magazines. It is sort of like trying to perform a pit maneuver with the security golf cart...... Yellow spinner or not, the E-ZGo is just not suitable for the task at hand.
my dept carried this in .40 S&W for 10 years. NUMEROUS problems, faliure to feed last 3 rounds from magizines, failure to eject, poor trigger mushy and heavy, replaced 2 years ago with the Smith and Wesson M&P, if you want a S&W auto the M&P is FAR BETTER of a weapon for the money
Never missed with this one, takes the damage and never missed fire.
