A classic Sig -- worthy of your attention....
I have been carrying this weapon for over seven years, and would prefer no other. Reliable, accurate, and damn good looking to boot.
My department has issued this outstanding weapon to its deputies for over 15 years! I've enjoyed it so much, I have a personal one as well.
Our department recenlty switched from the Berreta 96D to the Sig Sauer P-226. I bought my own P-220 because I am a big bore fan. It is a great gun accurate and reliable. I carry mine on duty and off-duty in an inside the waistband holster.
One of the finest instinctive shooting pistols ever made. This pistol saved my bacon. It hits where you POINT it. You might not have time to find that front sight. I didn't. I believe in big holes in bad things. They drain faster. Do not opt for the small bores. .45 is the way to go and if you train, why would you need 15 rounds?
I've been carryong a .45 P220 for almost 10 years now. Sure, there are newer and even some lighter guns around these days, but the P220 still shoots as good now after a 2000-3000 rounds have been shot through it as it did when it was new out of the box. The accuracy hasn't degraded one bit. The only downside of it seems to be that the finish has a tendency to wear quickly. Mine is still in pretty good shape, but I've known a numbe of officers who have had to have theirs re-done. Other than that, no complaints.
I have this gun...LOCKED AWAY. It is too good of a weapon to carry daily. The Sig 9mm was the first truly perfect 9mm. Others came along. But this one set the standards.
I have been carrying a Sig. P-220 for nearly 10 yrs. I recommend it highly. Very reliable and very accurate to shot. Will not carry anything else.
Typical Sig quality. Love the caliber but unless it's in the S/A version I don't care for the first double action shot.
Cool gun.
carried this gun for several years . loved it great duty weapon.
straight shooting gun. never jammed, accurate as all get out.
As relablility goes the Sig P220 is a good weapon. However for left handed officers like myself it is not very friendly. Having to use your trigger finger to work everything is a pain in tha a**. Not sure if they make an left handed model, but according to my department they don't. Would be nice to have models for all officers.
I love this gun. I have always preferred Sigs to other pistols I've shot. Great balance, great fit for my hand, and easy to field strip when it needs cleaning. Only problem is its too bulky to try to conceal off duty, plus it would be better if Sig would make a double stack mag instead of being limited to 8 shots.
Very accurate out of the box and reliable! I have wanted one since I carried my buddies when I did private armed security for jewerly shows. The gun is well worth the price and the quality is superb!!
Grate gun my office use .45 acp, Price $600 and up.
Its cool....accurate and packs a punch! I've carried it for 2 years and enjoy it.
I have owned mine (in .45) for fifteen years (made in W. Germany) and carried it on duty for five years. Never a problem, failure, or jam after over ten thousand rounds.
Have carried the P220 45cal. for several years now. It is an excellent weapon that is dependable (even in adverse whether and environmental conditions such as sand and dirt). Easy to break down and clean and the Trijicon sights make shooting a breeze. None of the violent kickback of the old military .45's. A great weapon.
A world-class dependable firearm. It's everyting you could ever need in a D/A semi-auto: Dependable. Accurate and without a doubt a firearm you can trust when your life is on the line. I've had mine in .45 cal for about six years now and I haven't had a single malfunction in over 5,000 rounds.
My only criticism is the stock sights. Get a quality tritium set-up before you even fire it. The stock sights are the pits!
One of the most dependable and accurate guns right out of the box!
I want one!!! Only a month or so left till I've got one!
Shoots true, easy to clean and keep functional
An outstanding firearm that stands up to time. I bought mine used 10+ years ago and have been carrying it every since. 3000 rounds later it shoots like the day I got it. The first trigger pull is long but everything after that is S W E E T !!!
In my opinion, the best natural point of aim weapon on the market. If you get a chance to hold one, close your eyes, come up on target, and open your eyes. I guarantee you will be on target with almost complete sight alignment. It is perfectly balanced and the single stack magazine makes for a great grip for smaller hands like mine.
Excellent pistol. I love my P220R, the fit and finish is fantastic and I have not had a single failure in more than 1,200 rounds fired since new (July of 2007). It is also very accurate when I do my part.
I carried this gun for 6 yrs and loved it!!!!
Excellent gun. My favorite in my collection. Very accurate, smooth shooting and easy to field strip/clean. Put over 8,000 rounds down it and still like new.
I carried this sidearm for 20 yers, it was the most reliable weapon I owned, my qualifications scores with this weapons were the highest. I was fortunate that we could carry our own weapon of choice, I am a believer that you should carry what you are most proficient with, not what the department gets the best price on.
I owned the P-220 Carry SAO MSRP. $1029.00 Awsome weapon worth every dollar I spent. "GOT SIG"
Shot the P220 for the first time today. Great gun! I enjoyed shooting it, though the round capacity makes you struggle to get the rounds in the mag to keep up with courses of fire. Other than that, accurate and nice!
I really believe in the big bore now. I never thought I would say that. I am a true believer since my company has opted for the P220. I never thought carrying a .45 ACP would do this to me. I will trust and carry P220 from now on.
I've ALWAYS been a Glock .22 fan, always. When I switched over to State Police in 2003, the dept issued the P220. Instantly I disliked it. It was heavy, had a hammer, and being a .45 it only held 8 rounds. Well, after the first day of shooting my Sig, I loved the thing. It was so smooth on the range, never malfunctioned. Out of the box I shot better, more accurate with it then I did with 7 years experience on a Glock. More knock down power and more accurate, I'll take the fewer round capacity, clearly I wouldn't need as much. Its an amazingly durable weapon. Only caution: keep it well lubricated. Keep oil on it and you'll have a weapon to cherish.
LOOKS LIKE ITS A CREAT FIRE ARM A POLICE SHOULD HAVE
to hell and back reliability! nothing left to say.
Great weapon onlly one jam todate. we are still using 7 load magazine & 8 load is on order. once u break in new holltser and spend hours @ the range very dependable, old magazine sometimes become aproblem time wise. Only negiitve the size of grip for me, prefer a smaller grip,, SOP unable to modify take home Sig, & weight after standard 12 hr. shiift, with mucho OT. you know after shift that u carried. Ok I feel stupid, finish shift Fri 0630 and decided to sock magazies in brake freeze for i hr. and drip dry. its been along wk with work (OT) & college sch. also clean weapon during fri am. After many yrs. of weapon maintenace i am having a brain fart to resmble Sig Sauer P220 can soneone help OK u can laught lack of sleep past week thanks George
excellent shooter
I recently shot the .40 and .45. Both shoot extremely well and are a smooth shot. Our dept. will be carrying the .45 within a couple of months.
Shoots smooth but makes it hard on a lefty
I really enjoy shooting this weapon and have had some of the best scores with it. Hardly any recoil plus how smooth the trigger action feels when shooting this pistol. I like the .45 p220 very nice handling grip feels great sight alignment.
A very good weapon. I carried one for several years.
CHIEF601 TAUGHT ME WELL. I LOVE THIS PISTOL!
thats da shit fight there
My favorite handgun. Truly a pice of art. My duty Glock is a fine tool but will never have the character of a SIG!
An awesome tool! We carried this weapon briefly after we switched over from the Sig Sauer P226 (9mm), then traded the P220 in on new P226R's. I liked the original P226 (9mm) that we carried, loved the P220 that we carried, and absolutely HATE the P226R that we now carry.
The time I spent with the P220 was a great experience. I shot a 239/240 right out of the box the first time I handled it. A quality weapon by Sig Sauer!
reliable under any condition....
This is one of the best guns out there in my opinion.
Did not like the 9 mm gun.... smaller cal, would like more bullets!
Ill give this gun what it deserves, a five-star rating. I also have this weapon and have no quams with it except I like a high capacity magazine. You only need one hit from this thing and you will be folded up like a pretzel so I usually only carry mine on search warrants. Great duty weapon.
I have this weapon in .45 ACP. It's a great pistol. It's accurate, easy to shoot, easy to aquire a sight picture and it's sexy too...LOL.
Not fancy, but packs the .45 punch. Throw on some Crimson Trace Laser Grips and all is well. Purchased mine in 2002 and no troubles.
