The .40 caliber introduced at the 1990 S.H.O.T. Show closes the gap between the heavy .45 charges and the internationally proven 9 x 19mm service calibers. GLOCK was the first manufacturer to make the advantages of this balanced caliber accessible to law enforcement agencies in a perfect pistol. Today, countless police units in the United States and throughout the world put their trust in the 15-round GLOCK 22.

Although it is more than adequate weapon, I much prefer my previous issue SIG P226. It is a much more reliable and comfortable weapon to use. I also prefer having a visible hammer.

This is an awesome product, it was the gun I choose for the academy because of its quality as well as acuracy, I could'nt recommend a better choice for a solid built reliable hammerless firearm.

I carry this in 22c as my department issued duty weapon. The gun is user friendly and the tactical light attaches with ease. The Glock is an excellent gun for law enforcement use because of its proven durability.

I went from a Sigpro 2340 and switched over to the 22, would have preferred the 22c but the Law Enforcement Dealer I bought mine from didn't have the 22c so I just got the 22. I love it never had any problems with it it's a great and relialbe gun.

I like the simplicity yet security of the Glock handguns. I went from a taurus/Beretta style handgun to the glock and the transition was flawless. Plus I feel I shoot better with the glock. In the heat of the moment you're not wondering if you've taken the safety off etc, as with other handguns. Other pluses are the prices of the glocks and the fact that all caliber magazines are interchangabel.

I have never had a single problem with the weapon to note.

Light, comfortable, and easy. I've used a few different semi- automatic pistols and in terms of simplicity this one is near the top. If you havn't tried a glock, do it. I've used it for about four years now and it has always been reliable and consistent.

I've carried the service weapon for 14 years. This does everything but take itself out of the holster for you! A light gun, quick to reload and very durable.. Best gun that I have fired and trained with during my career.

I think this weapon is a perfect weapon used for police duties. I like the safety mechanism on this weapon because if you need to use this weapon it's ready to go immediately. Also the recoil on this weapon is not that bad at all. I think most law enforcement agencies should carry this weapon or some sort of Glock depending on the job that they do.

I was a Sig fan, but when issued this as a duty weapon... Well, I'm a believer in GLOCK!! With the ease of cleaning and breaking the gun down, it is a joy to shoot. The night sights make working at night a pleasure. The accuracy is unbelievable even at 100 yards! This gun works in the mud, rain, sand, I have yet to blame the gun for a malfunction that was not caused by faulty ammo. Believe in God and Glock.. All others run thru NCIC!!

Excellent gun. The only malfunction I've ever had was human initiated. (I limp-wristed it) It's simplicity and ease of use are top-notch. That being said, I gave 4/5 because of the grip. I really don't like the feel of the grip. Anyone have a favorite after-market Glock grip they'd recommend?

Very durable and reliable. Pull the trigger and it shoots no problems. I used this to shot a bad guy at close range when my partner was wrapped up with the guy that was taking my partner's gun out of his holster. Fired twice and hit the guy both times killing him. Even at close range neither of the rounds left the suspect's body like a 9mm would have. This prevented my parner from being shot through he bad guy. Love It...

Its one of the more dependable firearms out there but it's accuracy isn't all it's cracked up to be. I have this model and after shooting the Sig Sauer P229 DAK series, Springfield XD series I would much rather put my life in the hands of those firearms. Their accuracy just totaly blows the Glocks apart.

We are switching over to the Glock 22 from the Sig P-229R. I am one of the departments firearms instructors, a glock armorer, and have been shooting for 30+ years. Lets start with the good. From 21 feet and in this is a very fast and very accurate pistol. It is very easy to work on and unlike the Sig will still shoot with several key parts broken (i.e. the spring rod guide among other parts). The trigger pull is very nice and a great improvement over the DA/SA of the Sig. The magazine capacity is 15 compared to the Sigs 12. Now to the bad. When I first started shooting this pistol it was jamming on me. I found that I was limpwristing. This never happened when I had my Sig or any other pistol and was quickly corrected. We have also found that the better Sig shooter you are the worse you shot the Glock. This was not always the case but we had a large majority that shot to the left. Some shot way to the left. This wasn't to bad close in but the further you got out the worse it was. A number of us had to move our sights. We are finding that the more we shoot the faster it corrects itself and some have already started to move the sights back. This happened to me with some Glocks and not with others. Reloading is much slower with the Glock then with the Sig or S&W M&P. Overall I am happy with it and I plan to buy a Glock 23 for a secondary weapon.

I switched from a Beretta 92fs to the Glock 22 to go to the 40 cal. I shot it first and really liked the action, I put a light on it and it's always there out of the holster if needed. I work mostly days but we do alot of inspections with code and pre board ups in buildings and I am always using by handheld flashlight. If I needed to draw my weapon it's one less thing to hold onto. Easy to clean and I still get 15 opportunities if needed. I like it

I carry my 22C off duty as my personal sidearm. I have tried to make this weapon malfunction, misfire, jam, stovepipe, etc. I have never, not once had a single episode of any of these incidents. It's one of the most reliable, easy to shoot, high capacity weapons on the market. Not saying the H&K, or SIG are not good weapons. But you are definitely getting the best for the price in this weapon. I love my Glock. This is the second one I have owned. I gave my wife the first. I feel more at ease knowing that if my wife ever has to use it. It will work, PERIOD!

There are several duty weapons that are superb...for different people. I prefer the Glock 22 because I have a very large hand and the grip fits me well. I also find the 22 to be accurate and recoil very manageable. Albeit, there are some that would differ with this statement, including some of my shift mates, but again it is what I am most comfortable with. I would recommend this weapon to any shooter, but particularly first time pistoleros because of its simplicity of use, the common trigger pull shot after shot and I am a great fan of the Glock Safe Action System.

    Question:
I have petite hands, and most guns I try out are just too big for me to hold comfortably. What would be a good gun for me ( non officer, but, I want one that if I have to use it in my home, I don't have to worry about the guy getting back up and taking it from me)? I live in a good part of town, but, never say never...thanks for any suggestions...who else to ask but a cop that could give me some reliable info? I wanted a Walther PPK (don't know if that is how you spell it). I have a nice gun, but, again, it is just too big for my hand.

    Thanks!

I carry the 22C (compensated barrel). It is issued by my department, but I owned a 22 before I came to work here. I like the fact that it is a constant trigger pull. This may have something to do with the fact that I started my LE career carrying a revolver. I don't like the single-action/double-action pistols. It's never failed to fire on the range or in the field.

This is a great gun for concealed carry and off duty work. I love the mag capacity and it is lightweight. This gun is a great shooter straight out of the box. Never had a problem qualifiying this as an off duty weapon.

I LOVE my Glock 22....Wouldn't want anything more or less....I do love the the way the Sig feels and shoots. But have been using Glocks since I got out of the academy. Don't know if I want to try and get used to something new now.

I love my Glock 22 it has proven itself reliable in all extreme weather conditions. I stood outside in a Rain/Ice storm last winter for an entire shift and proved its reliability. It is a very comfortable sidearm. My wife carries the Glock 23 and she loves it just right for her to small for me. As you can tell we are a Glock Family.

I couldn't believe how light it was till we broke it down and it felt like I had nothing inmy hand. I fired this weapon and like how easy it was for me to stay on target. I plan on buying one for myself and looking to add one for the little lady.

I started out with a 9mm S&W, then switched to the Glock 22 about five years ago. I really like this weapon easy to operate and clean. Plus it had a good amount of stopping power.

I have always favored the Springfield xd line of firearms, But I have been introduced to the Glock 22 by a Deputy friend. I love it. It is accurate, dependable and ,as my springfields, very user friendly. My Springfields arent going anywhere but they are gonna have some new playmates.

Well, It’s hard for me to rate the G-22 because I don't own one. I own a G-27 and a G-24. When I was working, the Calif. Highway Patrol MADE me carry a S&W 4006. I was lucky to have survived 22 years without having to use it. I may not have survived if I had ever had to shoot anyone with it. When I retired last year and they didn't have any more control over what I carried, I bought a G27 for canceled carry and a G24 (With a Streamlight TLR-2 attached) for fun, competition and home defense use. I have not shot very many rounds though these pistols as I am still waiting for my Barsto Barrels to be made. I think I ordered them about 20 weeks ago and they still aren’t ready even though I live in the same town they are made. (29 Palms Ca.) As soon as they are ready and I get the Ghost trigger jobs done on each one, my wife and I are planning on attending the Front Sight course at Pahrump Nv. I can say that the G27 (3.46” barrel) is far more accurate than the CHP’s S&W 4006 was with a 4” barrel. And so far, NO FTF or FTE with the Glocks. I had at least 2-3 each time I fired the 4006 at the range. If your agency allows or supply’s your G22’s, consider yourself lucky. The CHP just re-issued a newer model of the S&W 4006 2 months after I retired. I am so glad I retired.

I've been carrying this weapon since 1996 and it has always been durable, accurate and reliable. It is easy to fire, easy to clean and has very few moving parts to mess with. Though it has gone through several modifications through out it's inception it is a very solid pistol and I would recommend it to all of my friends and peers.

In ten years of Law Enforcement this is the best weapon I have ever used...It's the best cop-proof . If it can be broken I can break it...I've never broken my glock 22 and belive me I've tried.

I carried the Glock 22 for 10 years and found it to be a well designed and manufactured weapon. I fired in excess of 2000 rounds in qualifications without ever having a misfire or jam. I was fortunate to make it 10 year without having to discharge my weapon at a suspect, but I am confident that it would have performed perfectly had I the need. The accessory rails made the mounting and dismounting of my M-3X tactical light. I also added aftermarket ghost-ring sights, which enabled me to tighten my grouping even further.

Durable and Reliable. As for accuracy, I don't understand why anyone would be using a handgun at greater than 25 yards anyway, and for regular duty, this weapon is more than accurate enough. For long range work, pull out that M4. :)

Easy to clean, easy to break down, fewer parts to misplace when breaking down/cleaning, easy maintenance.

I have carried this weapon for 4 yrs on duty, very dependable, smooth draw/entry into and out of the holster. Excellent tactical weapon!

I would have rated it 5 stars, but instead went with 4 stars because I wish there were interchangeable heel straps on the grip to customize the fit.
