The AMT Back-up is a compact palm size stainless steel pistol. The gun is indestructible, but not as reliable as it could be. In order to clean the pistol, you have to punch out a rolled steel pin from the slide to allow disassemly. Since that's a pain in the buttocks, it is seldom done. A clean semi-auto is a happy semi-auto. A dirty semi-auto has earned the nickname the AMT Jam-up. I have never experienced a jam with mine, but I clean it religiously. I have watched other owners fire theirs in single shot mode, however, as the dirty gun jammed with every shot. For the money, not a bad hideaway/back-up. Just keep it clean
