| Description: | The Walther P99 is a semi-automatic pistol made in Germany by Walther Sportwaffen. The design of the P99 was initiated in 1994, and the handgun was presented in 1996. The main goal was to develop a new, modern-style police and self-defense handgun |
There is no denying that Glock pistols dominate the polymer pistol market in the U.S.
The company offers its legions of loyal customers a variety of reliable compact and service size handguns in popular calibers such as the 9mm Parabellum, 40 S&W, and 45
This thing rocks.
This weapon is reliable and trustworthy.
Ive owned this weapon for about a year and a 1/2 and it one of, if not the best firearm pistol I've owned. I haven't had one jam, misfire or other problem with it. I highly recommend adding this fine piece of equiptment to your collection, either professionally or off-duty.
I had to choose a weapon when my department made the transition from .38 model 64s to a pistol. After reviewing several option we made the P-990 our choice. (P990 is DAO model) It
was one of the few at the time with changeable back panels for different size hands. The DAO made it a very simple process to retrain 55 officers.
Two years ago we went from carrying old ruger gp-100's that our provincail police had given us, when the transitioned to Glock 17's. Then we stwiched to the walther p99 dao, at first i was abit unsure of this pistol as being a good choice to tell you the truth i would have prefered the glock 17. But i was wrong after a week of intensive training with it and the raptor 6070 i fell in love the the walther. I a few weeks i am ordering one for myself for my own use. Over all i really like the ergonomics as well as it accurracy Considering or ministery's standard for qualification is 100% on the target lose one and you lose the certification to carry. I also likehow light it is seeing as how when we carry side arms is when we are transporting prisoners from one place to the other and its lack of weight is nice when you are on your feet for 8 or 10 hours cause you brought someone to the emergency room at the local hospital.
I have a P99QA and it's one of the best pistols i've ever owned. I prefer it off duty because it's small enough to be easily concealed but large enough that it doens't appear to be a pager. I'm not a huge fan of the "get off me guns". On or off duty I want a weapon that feels and looks like it can do the job. The accuracy considering the semi compact size is great, combined with the interchangable backstraps and great ergonomics. I've never been a glock fan personally (even though they are undeniably one of the best weapons in the world) because of the feel and the fact that the weapon cannot be manually put on safe. I give the P99 5 stars.
Very impressive pistol! Next best compact 9mm to the Glock 19.
I actually own the P99CQA. I love this gun! The decocker makes it safe enough to carry in your waist band without fear of blowing off other equipment, and compact enough for others not to notice it being there. The 10 round magazine i found lacking, but with the finger grip foreplate made it just like carrying a full-size. the only down fall would be the barrel size. I found that this led to stray shots, either that or I wristed 2 out of five shots. Bought brand new at Williams Gun Sight Co. in Davison, MI for $530. Great deal for a high quality pistol!
I have shot this gun several times, all total about 100 rounds through it, and the mag has fallen out when I have fired it two times!. Not the kind of reliability I want in a firearm. It fits in the hand nice though.
Got one, love it! Unquestionable quality.
Great little off duty weapon.....
A great back up weapon.
I don't know about this firearm but I owned a P22 for plinking (a smaller .22 version) a few years ago and it was the worst gun I have ever fired. Very good looking, but poor functioning. Malfunction after malfunction- defective magazines too. Sent it to Walther's gunsmith and they altered the feeding ramp but the gun still failed to cycle properly. Tried all kinds of ammo- no difference. Sold it off. I have read the same story from hundreds of users on the web. My issue is with a company that would release a weapon that was unreliable across the board...
lite, smooth recoil, easy on trigger finger lots of room
I fired one of these down at a range in texas and it fired great
I carry the P99 compact off duty in .40 S&W and I love it. It's easy to opperate once you get used to the mag release and I've never had a failure with factory ammunition in 2,500 rounds.
I love my Walther P99. I love the feature about the back strap of the grip can be adjusted to fit into your hand than just a standard grip. I have shot this puppy alot. I have owned mine for about 3 years or so and have not had any problems with it. Just a good gun all around.
Very good weapon. Fits all user hands with back strap system. Smooth functions just a great all around gun. Highly recommend.
Nice, light weight easy to conceal. Great back up weapon.
shot one the other day...great gun but still like the glock better
I love the P99QA. Wouldn't have it any other way!
I sell this Gun at Gander mountain. Awesome Gun. 699 .99 at Gm
This would an great off duty weapon. I fired one but still love my Glock.
Meh, i dont like the mag release on the "P" series of pistols. Im a Glock fan. But i think if i was given one, or found one cheap i guess i buy one
Everything is great except 2 stage trigger
A TRUE POINT AND SHOOT HANDGUN! FIRST GUN I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SHOOT WITH BOTH EYES OPEN.
My fiance always has this or the Kahr pm9 with him. I can say that I feel safer at night cause this gun is next to my bed.
I have to say that this is the one of the best guns I have ever carried. I carry it on and off duty. I have the P99 AS. I love the decocking feature. The only problem is trying to get a nice holster for it. Fits perfect in my hand and is really concealable.
i think this gun would be light enough to carry
I a titanium version in 9mm. I found the trigger pull a bit quirky at first, but once settled in it is excellent.
how can you beat titanium, made by germany
I have a P-22 that is the little brother using 22 long rifle, 12 round mags. I just read another person who had a bad experience with his, but I have nothing but praise for mine. No miss feeds , fits in your pocket , easily concealed while wearing t shirt and shorts. small caliber requires that you be a good enough shot to actually hit what you aim at like the eye socket. I have also modified my hollow points so they shatter on impact. Great when you hit someone wearing a vest, the shrapnel gets them in the lower chin area. For under $300.00 you cant go wrong. Mine was made by Smith & Wesson , not by Walther in either California or Germany. Coming from just down the road to S&W 50 miles away in Springfield,Ma. , I can assure you that ANYTHING that goes wrong with any gun they make , they will fix it free of charge for LEOs.
walther makes quality habdguns
I absolutely love this weapon. I have been a big Glock person since I've been in Law Enforcement. After firing this nail driver, it has become my favorite pistol. Walther is a great company with quality products.
One of the best and most reliable weapons that I have fired in 15 years. With a low probablity of jamming and a smooth slide action, the P99 is the weapon of the future.
