| Description: | Full-sized US model 1911-A1 with parkerized finish and walnut US grips. .45 ACP |
Excellent shooting, reasonably priced 1911A1 reproduction that served the US Military for almost 80 years.
ANY and I REPAT ANY Model 1911 beats all the other pistol HAND DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This weapon has served with honor and distinction for almost 100 years with only few modifications. When your little light weight plastic pistol melt down the 1911 will still be going STRONG.
Excellent weapon, reliable and sure. Used for nearly 100 years and still going strong with very little modifications. A nail-driver.
Currently my primary weapon...1911 4.25" Bull Barrel USMC issue. It kicks like a drunk mule, but you can shoot groups of 1/2 mil seperation at 45 yards... My version has the wooden grips but is the blue/steel version not the OD green. Still a faithful and well worn in weapon. A shot ANYwhere in the main body mass will have stopping power and give Bad Guy Bob that sudden "taps" feeling!
Best shooting gun I ever shot.
I alternate my duty weapons, the Springfield 1911-A1 GI I use as primary backup on and off, I also have the 1911-A1 in 9mm and use it well too besides the Beretta 92. Only problem I have with it/them is deciding which weapon is going to be my primary for the day at work.
THIS IS A AWESOME WEAPON HANDS DOWN. OR UP!!
This is perfect for home defense. Plus it sounds so good when firing. The sound would scare someone away alone. I love it
Only going to give it a 2 star rating. It is not DA which is one strike, It holds only 8 rds, 2 strikes, and it is heavy as hell, 3 strikes. We have much better .45's available now that are both single and DA. I like having a hammer. Also like the safety to be one that blocks the hammer from hitting the firing pin! Many lighter weapons with more features and safer plus capable of holding more rounds. I do like the .45 hitting power as long as you can control them.
Have one that i bought from a former Army sniper. 4 Stars due to sight profile (the standard blades sights are vastly inferior to modern pistols that come with build in dot sights). Other than that it has been consistently smooth, reliable, easy to fire.
The previous person who posted about 8 shot limits and heft, I do not sincerely think has ever OWNED one of these. It is easy to pick up a Wilson Combat mag that holds 10 rounds, if you do not mind a little extension. The weight of the gun actually helps reduce kickback a little, and it is not an extremely heavy gun. I think, from what i can recall, my dads S&W model 19 revolver felt heavier.
And it's funny, i SEE a Hammer on this gun, did you miss that, Robocop33? Also the active grip safety and the slide safety were specifically designed on the 1911 to allow you to carry it loaded without blowing a hole in yourself. DA would be nice, but not required in the slightest.
Overll, if you are hankering for a 1911, a Springfield 1911a1 is a good pistol
I love this weapon. I actually the A2 model but the 1911 can't be beat.
this is by far my favorite handgun just because i have 2
shoots well and consistently has tight groups.
Love this weapon! Great accuracy, good price, easy take down. The wood grips are great for the classoc look but if you shoot for long periods of time or for accuracy, I would recommend a set of Hogue wrap around grips.
excellent handgun
Have been shooting this weapon since I was 12. It was the first gun I ever learned to shoot. Now I own six diferent 1911 style springfields. I'll never give them up.
I have never tried this model a friend has and works so far. NEVER NEVER buy the 'loaded' series pistol from Springfield. The rear sight dovetail was not properly cut which caused the rear sight to shift from side to side. The dot on the front night sight was not cenetered which caused rounds to go astray at night. The trigger was heavy and gritty. The front strap made it feel like a block (maybe I got spoiled on the rounded front strap on my Colt Combat Commander). I sold sold the Springfield "loaded" an bought a Kimber, it was a wise choice.
THESE PISTOLS ARE YOUR BASELINE MODELS AND ARE FOR THE MOST PART RECREATIONS OF THE OLD SERVICE MODEL, 1911A-1 GI, OK WELL DUH! ANYWAY, THEY ARE FUN TO SHOOT BUT I WOULDNT CARRY ONE ON DUTY WITH OUT FIRST INVESTING IN AN EXTENDED GRIP SAFETY AND THE EXTENDED SAFETY AND SLIDE RELEASE. I HAVE THE 4"BBL MODEL AND REALLY ENJOY SHOOTING IT. THE CONTROLS ARENT AS EASY TO OPERATE AS A MODEL EQUIPED WITH ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES AND THE GI SIGHTS LEAVE MUCH TO BE DESIRED COMPARED TO WHATS AVAILABLE TODAY. STILL ITS A GREAT 2ND GUN OR PRACTICE WEAPON.
Has the look, the heft, and feel of the one I had in WW II.
My Dad carried this weapon as far back as I can remember, and he always said "I carry this because I know for a FACT it works" . Thats all i needed to hear and now i have inherited it and carry it daily.
i have seen this exact gun, color and all, at my local gun shop, i thought about getting a berretta 92f cause im knowledgeable with it, but when i saw this one... it was love at first shot. i had the biggest shit-eating grin on my face when i felt that recoil. i love it and im about to buy it.
Excellent pistol. I own and carry this exact model when I work uniformed security . The grips are standard (no U.S. on them). I have had or carried a 1911/1911-A 1 for over 28 years. I have carried/owned, Colt, Singer-Essex & Springfields. They have never let me down. There are only two draw backs I see. The standard sights, and getting duty gear. Eyes do not focus like they use to. Am having a three dot system put on. I had/have to hunt and special order some items for 1911's as most companies do not stock/make them on a regularly basics. I currently carry five mags, four in a quad pouch and of course one mag in the pistol. Most people, if not all, even if not knowable of firearms know of the old U.S. Army 45. Many a time, someone who was about to start a problem with me or a fellow Officer saw the 45 on my duty belt and got real peaceful real quick. The presents of the 1911 makes a statement to all who see it.
Havent shot it yet. I like the price though. Will have to check this one out.
First issue weapon, good knock down power, acurate if maintianed.
There is nothing I love more then my 45. The only problem is my city won't let us carry them. Something that **********JUST MAKES ME GO INSANE********** is when I hear someone say the downfall to this weapon is it only holds 8 rounds. I got news for ya pal or chic, if you can't hit something at least ONCE with 8 rounds...GET YOUR ASS BEHIND ME AND LET ME SHOOT!
I can't wait until the Army goes back to these wonderful weapons
I have a 1911-A1 MIL-SPEC which is basically the same as the GI with upgraded sights and it came with a dual mag pouch and holster. I'm very pleased with it. Right out of thr box it was driving tacks and the gun is TIGHT no ratttle at all! The trigger is a little heavier than I like but it's smooth. The look and feel is outstanding and it likes alltypes of ammo. Bottom line is buy it, yes I agree it's not a Kimber, but it's not $1000 bucks either.
I carried this on active duty and other than the limited number of rounds there is no down side. You can shoot someone in the arm and they might die from the shock wave, even with the ball round. This is a meat and potatos firearm that will stop what you hit.
The only thing I see as a problem is that since it is a reproduction, and correct me if I'm wrong, it does not have a drop safety. This weapon, even carried 'cocked and locked', had a excellent safety record in the days before drop safeties were used. It does have both a switchable and grip safety.
I had this weapon for a while, got it from a NHP officer friend of mine. I prefer the slim profile of the 1911. At first I thought the wood checkered grips would be an issue, they were not. It fired true and straight and my hands did not hurt. The rear sights took a bit to get use to being low profile and non painted. However, I did not care much do to the need to learn point shooting anyhow and needed a practice gun apart from my regular carry. (yes I still practice with regular carry) I am not concerned with the need of extended grip safety and was not ever taken back from the fact it has 8+1shots. After all my snub nose revolver only has five and I trust it 100% as my primary backup and as a quick home defence. True practice makes perfect shot and with less rounds. If in heavy fire fight and one is not able to hit targets moving with a light 17+1 round 9mm then spending off 9 makes no difference. Using the excuse of needing more rounds in a fire fight at less then 15 yards is not a good one. i carried a glock 17 with 5 factory 17 round magazines for years. I traded up and now carry my S&W 1911 5" with five 8 round wilson magazines and feel more confident then I did with the G17. Bottom line is this or any 1911 is a great choice for a carry, home defence, practice gun. This one is no exception works well and is a good looking piece.
Picked mine up in a trade about two years ago. With CorBon PowRball ammunition I don't feel handicaped at all.
bought my dad one of these and he loves it
One of the many arms I own in my arms cache.
Got one two years ago. I've put over 1,000 rounds through it and not one proublem. It's no KImber but it's good.
Wasn't too impressed with the accuracy of this thing. There are better options in this caliber for the price, and I'm certain that many people who buy this pistol buy it for the 1911 name.
Really good weapon in my opinion. I did modify mine slightly though. I changed the grips to Uncle Mikes combat grips, Installed a beavertail safety and a full length guied rod. It has never yet stovepiped a round on me. I shoot 94% day and 96% night with it
I currently carry this weapon as my primary duty pistol. I have been carrying this pistol for about 4 years now and couldn't be happier with it. I qualify with perfect scores on almost every qualification time. (Maybe one time I pulled one shot out. Had to make the Chief feel better with his grouping. hehehe)
My great grandma use to carry this gun in her purse(not this exact model) and my aunt has a stainless steal version and its one of the most effective and useful pistols ever and 50 plus years of service have proved that
My fisrt 1911 style gun was a Springfeild. Good gun, but needed to do some little work on it to make it even better. But the operation of the gun was perfect out of the box.
I have the Springfield Mil-Spec and it shoots great. I also have a Glock 17. The last time I qualified, I shoot a 98 with the Glock, which is my primary duty weapon. I ended up shootin a 100 with the .45. Great gun.
Had one of these. 1" groups & less out of the box. Accurate, dependable, no jams (unless bad ammo). This is the tightest, smoothest .45 I have ever shot. I have also owned an officer's model of this called the Springfield Champion which was a good gun. Love the longer hammer that can be thumbed back, quick draw style like an old six-shooter. Only complaint, prespiration will cause it to rust if you dont keep it oiled to death, so get the stainless or parkarized.
Honestly there is nothing really bad to say about this weapon. It is one of the best handguns that I have ever fired. Hands down!!!
I've owned mine for 3 years and only changed the trigger, grips, guide rod and spring. This was only done to get a little personal touch and I have had no problems to date.
I have the loaded champion version of this gun, and it works wonderfully. I've shot around 1200 rounds through it with no problem. Sprinfields are the best!
this is the third SA 1911 that i have added to my collection. I am a big fan of 1911"s and will have to reccommend to anyone they get one. the color of ths gi version is without a doubt their best on yet, unless you count my stainless....
I love my 1911A1!!! It is a proven man stopper!!! I wish my department would convert to it for Special Operations!!!!!
Not a big fan of the low profile sights that mine came with, but it's an easy gun to shoot and operate. Definitely pleased with the overall purchase.
Base models are cheap and function roughly. If you absolutely have to have a Springfield, get one of the higher end models such as the Loaded Operator or something similar. My Springfield GI 1911 constantly jammed (failure to feed, failure to extract, stovepiped) using Hornady Tap 200 gr. ammunition and others similar in quality. It shot better with a round nose full metal jacket but still had some issues. If you want a 1911, I would say spend the little extra and get a Kimber.
I have owned this firearm for 2 years and have fired at least 2000 rounds and have never had an issue. I actually carry the mil. spec version which is all black with tactical sights, extended slide lock and shaved mag insert. This gun is heavy enough to take the recoil off the .45 but light enough to conseal off duty.
Without a doubt, the 1911A1 is the best combat sidearm ever devised. Thank you John Browning. Those who take off points for the low profile combat sights and the fact that it isn't a DA are certainly welcome to their opinion, but I doubt they have much experience with this firearm in general, or the modern Springfield Armory 1911-A1 GI model specifically. It is, without a doubt, the best bang for the buck, right out of the box.
I've fed mine every type of ammunition I can get my hands on, and it just plain works. That said, the 1911 is not for everyone. It suits me just fine.
If you're looking for an exceptional 1911A1, you can't go wrong with this firearm. I've had friends who dumped as much as two grand into a "race" gun fire my Springfield and marvel at how good it shoots for a $500.00 no-frills .45.
I got mine.
I carried one while in the military and still carry one today. My only complaint is I can't conceal it very well, even my special designed purse is pushed to the limit due to the size. I still trust my .45 over any 9mm out there.
