| Description: | An antiskid system, eight-passenger seating, and a power liftgate are new Durango features for 2006. This truck-type SUV lends its design to the 2007 Chrysler Aspen. It comes in SXT, SLT, and Limited models. It's available with three engines: a 210-hp V6, a 230-hp V8, and Chrysler's 335-hp Hemi V8 that saves fuel by deactivating four cylinders during cruising. All have automatic transmission. |
Dodge what can I say... Although its not as fast, Very top heavy, and cumbersom. I was able to put my departments new Durango threw the paces during this years Noreaster (St. Valentines Day Storm) The vehicle was finominal the snow. Another problem with the vehicle is that the prisoner cages make the rear seat rather small but hell their not really made for comfort anyway
Very, very fast. Faster than our cars are. AWD all the time. Doesn't lend itself well to organization, and a cage would be nice. Also the spotlight in the door sucks. When you open the door, the light moves with the door. Also the door likes to rebound. It did this to me a crushed my trigger finger (ouch) &@^%*#$!!!!
Standard for State Department. Hate knocking my knee on the damn steering column but other then that it's a ride. Pickup isn't that great but top speed? This thing can go well over 100mph for (Personally driven) 4 hours non stop.
I love this SUV.....
Great patrol vehicle... Great in the snow! Just wish there was more clearance in the front end.
Our department started using these, they are great as far as speed and handeling, but need a little more ground clearance for rural type terrain. The cage in the back was kind of an issue as well. Not a whole lotta room left after that.
I am in the market for a new SUV, I will keep this one in mind.
I drive the all wheel drive model that seems to handle the road at a high rate of speed but is a lot slower than a crown and less room for a large officer with duty rig on
Very smooth and comfterable ride, nice and rooming, good performance out of the engine and it handle turns very well at high speeds. The down fall to the Durango is the ground clearance is not very much so it makes it hard to get into some places that county agencies have to get into. Overall I am still pretty impressed with the Durango and by no means am I a Dodge fan.
all round nice patrol vehicle could have more top end speed i had it topped out at 110
Working up here in the snow, I like my Durango. We used to have the Chevy Tahoe, which I prefer cause you could power through high snow. We have some Ford Expeditions, but they are large and awkward to drive. The Durango, being smaller and lighter, does have some drawbacks, but they are speedy little SUV's.....which I prefer. The interior is cramped, with all the police equipment installed, glad I am not 6'4"!
We have 4 of these rolling P.O.S.'s, I'll continue tdrive my 5 yr old Crown Vic with 145 k. All of ours have electrical problems, they don't handle well and don't have as much room in the front as a CVPI. Our problem may be because all of ours were bought straight off the lot, no special duty package, etc. and all of the equipment was installed by the local mechanic rather than a speciality outfiter. Thankfully our Cheif has gotten over whatever was wrong with him and is again buying Crown Vic's. (I havn't been able to talk him in to Tahoes yet.)
We have a Durango the SXT Model ours is real Nice leather DVD player got 4 months for 19,999 form 32,000 list drinks gas but will haul 8 people Alpine system 6 disc mp3 player better tahn our Tahoe ever was !
