| Description: | Compact, light-weight excellent back-up/off-duty 1" brl 5 shot revolver |
Excellent back-up/off-duty/concealed carry weapon. Fits GREAT in my Fobus concealed pancake holster. Reliable and accurate. "...don't leave home without it!" (I'm old school; "wheel guns are real guns"). Having spent my years carrying 38's, 357's, 41 & 44 mag revolvers, what else would I have these days? That pic doesn't do mine justice, though. Mine's brushed stainless...
I concur. I carry a Mod 60 in .357 Mag as a backup/off-duty gun, with Uncle Mike's Boot Grips. It is a little heavier than the new airweights, but I feel that the added weight helps with the magnum 125 gr. JHPs I push through it. Accuracy is acceptable, trigger is good, but it does kick a bit. As a backup, I would rather carry a wheelgun than an auto - you know that it is going to work.
I carry a S&W Model 60 in .38 Special as a backup/off-duty gun, with Eagle Secret Service Grips. It is an excellent revolver. I qualified extremely well both day and night with it.
This weapon actually comes with a 1 7/8" bbl., unless I'm mistaken. Excellent wheelgun, easier to conceal and lighter than Ruger, though not as easy to shoot or robust. Gun is inherently very accurate but hard to shoot accurately beyond 15 yards due to short sighting plane. Now that they chamber these things in .357 MAG, the stopping power is among the best but recoil can be severe beyond .38 Spl. +P loads. Great price, too. Can routinely be found on sale for around $300 and change. Good casual off duty choice in warm climes, especially in stainless steel.
I have carried the chief's special all my life as a back up gun. Great for off duty if what you are wearing on a given day will not hide anything bigger than this. Great liitle gun.
Carried the shrouded version for 20 years. Still have it.
Carried off duty for years and still today carry it when out in public, Thank God for CWP. Love this gun.
I have a nickle plated modle 60 .357 that is my go everywere I go You can't beat a S&W revolver for reliability.
used to carry a stainless 60 years ago off duty. I mean years ago! They were alright as far as conceal ability goes, but I'm not sure how the new ones would stand up against a repeated dose of 357 mags.
A great little snubby, but I am not a wheelgun man. A .357 Magnum in something that small must kick like a mule and not hit too much, though.
All hail CHIEF601, the Duncan McCloud of LEOs.
good backup gun
Love S&W's-- I still own more wheelguns than autos, and always will. Mine is acutally a Model 36 (blue steel) w/Uncle Mike's boot grips. Slight trigger job and call it good. More accurate than many snubbies, barks a little with +P's, but you expect that. I don't recommend ankle carry with a blued gun-- trust me. One day soon I will have it refinished in black T or similar. The hammer has never bothered me. After years of ankle carry, I moved it to my vest, using Uncle Mike's neoprene inside the pants holster with the vest strap through the plastic clip and velcroed down. This is set up for cross draw by my weak (right) hand. I also carry a speed strip w/6 extra rounds in my pants pocket.
Great weapon never had any problems with it.
Great backup weapon with plenty of punch
Years back it was a good backup gun..Mine is old and keeps on firing like a champ..
This is the true classic right here. I love it. If you get one you'll never get rid of it!
my version is a M&P360 16oz loaded w 38+p speer.changed the grip to a hogue rubber 3 finger for control. never leave home with out it.
Good little backup or off duty gun old school like me
