| Description: | Lightweight handcuff, double locking, stainless steelordnance grade polymer, and modular, replaceable lock. Chain cuffs are flexible and more easily applied during a confrontation. |
I love these cuffs. They are light weight and easy to use. I carry two sets on my duty belt at all times along with my regular peerless set.
These things are dangerous! A suspect can break them open simply by putting the arm of one in between the double arms of the second and prying. Yes...I've seen it.
I use the ASP handcuffs on a regular basis to restrain prisoners in a prison. Some are weight lifters and found them very reliable.
The keyholes and double locks are on both sides of each cuff. Never worry about getting them on "right" for easy release at the jail. Very lightweight also.
I like em! But if you slam them on a suspect (like you've never done it) the arm of the cuff over shoots their mark making them useless.
love my cuffs, never had any problems using them
They showed us a set of these during training. I can't wait to get my set !
I have 2 pair and I love them. With the keyhole on both sides you never have to worry about keyhole placement. Although you do have to worry about offender access to the keyhole. The double lock indicator and ability to double lock through the keyhole is a plus as is being able to remove the locking mech to clean or replace without having to replace the whole cuff.
The only way I can see to place the single arm in-between the opposing double is if you have modified the cuff with a longer chain or are having to use two sets on a big boy, neither do I recommend. Using two pair will cause them to rub and damage the polymer, therefore the structural integrity of the cuff. For that, I use my Peerless, and as to modifying, never a good Idea in my book.
I have had cuffs overshoot the channel, but never my asps, allthough nothing is fool proof. The double arms are somewhat weak sideways and prone to clamping and twisting so this is something to take into consideration. If you carry in your hip pocket, for example, the double arms can bend together causing the single arm to bind on the way through.
As with my Fobus gear, I have found you do not want to leave your asps in your car. The polymer and bonding agents don't get along well with the extreme heat and can cause a dangerous breakdown when in use.
Overall, I love my asps. A major problem is finding cases to fit. Also, you can't use a black box for the same reason, won't fit. Because of the polymer, you don't want to just throw them in the trunk to bounce around and you can't carry them in your pocket all the time either. Stay Safe
My dare officier had a pair of these olny hers were pink.
I tell you what, you will never again use your old standard cuffs. this baby is so worth the money. Light, durable, can take some serious beating, and it's easy so easy to take off. Just watch your peers, they may take your cuffs when you re not looking. Even the bad guys like them.
To GTS197, that's why I use Flex Cuffs or zip ties. Prevents 'Houdinis'
I would have to say that I love my ASP handcuffs. They are just the thing that a patrolman need out on the streets. With the locking mech. on both sides it is nice not to have to fight with your key and the subject to get them off.
I too have two pairs of these cuffs. A black pair and a pink pair.
use them they are good.
Lightweight and user friendly, However, our local corrections officers have been using them. Now they are telling us to get rid of them because inmates are finding ways to break them. Never seen it, just heard about it. Be careful!
Have heard mixed reviews about these things. Other than being stylish, I would have to stick with good old S&W..
Lightweight, easy to use, nice having the keyholes on both sides. Mine are yellow, easy to spot if you drop them, plus unique, no one else has yellow.
Great product. The dual key holes sold me on them and there much lighter than other handcuffs on the market.
Smooth cuffing. No stiffness. Like the way it double locks.
I love these cuffs! Lightweight, strong, outstanding action and locking mech. The only draw back is they don't fit well in standard carrying gear. You are recomended to buy the ASP belt case.
Great pair of cuffs, I use the Hinged primarily and its great. Compared to the S & W, they are about an inch longer. Would recommend to anyone.
Their plastic.....enough said.
Hey these work great !
--Everytime one of my girlfriends come over, they want to use them !
God I love mine I got my set a couple months back and I have both the Peerless 500 and 700 and I will grab the ASP first over the Peerless. They are the smoothest operating cuffs Ive used and was suprised at how much easier they are to utilize.
I love mine. They are very well made. I also carry peerless and I will reach for the asp every time.
These are nice to have around I keep a pair handy in busy areas, they are easy to use and light weight, also multi colored to use as threat markers. Alot of people tell me they can't find cases for them, but I have found the Bianchi Patroltec case works just fine, also if you have a little extra room on you belt a cuff strap works great. I have used these cuffs in night clubs, and had no problem with large drunk guy breaking them, and if anyone is good at breaking stuff it's them. I also carry S&W and they are my primary, but ASP is a great back up, I have trusted ASP batons, and training guns for years and I am glad to see they are adding to there product line.
Best Cuffs every made
Absolutely the best! Can be unlocked from either side as can the double lock. This is especially useful when cuffring or uncuffing at night. The shape of the cuffs makes them fit better than standard cuffs.
I love them have them in pink as well
So far, so good. I have heard that they are easy to get out of. I have not had anybody get out of them on me as of yet. If anybody has any factual info, please send it to me! Thanks!!
Will not use. VERY easy to break. I think these are a liability to my safety as well as my fellow officers. I've seen offenders bend/break them and pull out of them in the amount of time it takes to close a door and open the utility port.
I love them. Lot lighter than the peerless. With the key holes on both sides I don't have to worry about "getting them on right" during a fight. At first, I wasn't to keen about getting the cases that fit the cuffs until I got them. I got space keys on the back of the case for easier access.
I've been using a set for about a year now, and love them. I have not had any personal problems with them, but have heard some horror stories from officers that have. Apparently there were some strength and integrity issues with some of the earlier models, however from my knowledge ASP has corrected the issues on the newer models that display yellow in the double lock area.
I don't use cuffs on a daily basis like a beat officer but when i saw these i was a little hesitant because of the "new" hardened plastic, when you think of hand cuffs you don't think plastic. But these perform very nice and like said before the double locks on each cuff is very nice and of course the quality of ASP is there too. Great product!
great product. light weight
I like the weight and the functioning of the cuffs. They are comftorable to carry and handle, but I still have great concerns over the double sided key hole. I know they say that they are "pick proof" but we all know that there is no such thing..
Our Sheriff Joe Arpaio requires all of us deputies to carry pink versions of these....love them nothing better then a drug runner with pink cuffs on
heheh i love cuffs..heheheh its the best thing to have when ur a COP
The best pair of handcuffs I have owned.
One of the Best Cuffs out there. Smooth action and with key on either side easy to us.
This is one of the best chain handcuffs I have used in my 39 years as an LEO! The price is reasonable. The action is smooth, and IT KEYS FROM BOTH SIDES!
GREAT CUFFS. ALOT MORE DURABLE THAN THEY LOOK.
I've carried S&W but recently switched to the ASP. The ASP single arm moves so much smoother than the S&W cuffs. They're lightweight and I haven't had the first problem with them
Great set of cuffs. Light weight and durable! Perfect...
I have these... in PINK. Let me tell you, putting these on an arrestee who thinks he is tough.. what a treat.
I've had these for about a year. I much prefer them to standard. Faster to cuff up, faster to uncuff. FUN to put on when they fight, flat edge makes rapid cuffing a dream, and it doesn't make me unhappy that it's uncomfortable for the mutt either. Highly recommend them. Only drawback, need a special case due to width of the cuffs, but no big deal.
I lkie my smith & wesson's
Absolutely love these cuffs. Lightweight and almost indestructable. What more can an officer ask for!
Good solid set of handcuffs. It is great tactically that it is has keyholes on both sides. It is hard to get a case to fit them unless you buy the ASP case or also Aker makes one as well. I was able to fit them into a Jaypee Bikini Case by trying out several on the rack that day and was lucky to find on that fit. Uses the standard handcuff key so that is not a problem. They are also lighter that Smith and Wesson or Perless Handcuffs.
For anyone that uses chain links, I would recommend these cuffs. It is great having the keyholes on both sides.
I've seen people break out of these. Nice idea, love the idea. But I suggest a rework of the light weight stuff
I know from experience that these cuffs are very light weight and comfortable when placed on. While in Citizens Police acadmey we where allowed the experince of a take down and we were told to strugle. These cuffs will hold up and do the job well.
I purchsed myfirst set almost two years ago. Shortly after, I purchased a second set. I work in a prison invironment and go to the ground almost daily in fights with inmates. Replacing my issued Peerless handcuffs with these was the best thing I ever did. Whenyour on the ground struggling with a violent suspect, it's nice to know that the cuffs will go on smoot as butter, and that you will always have a key hole opposite the Scrot's hands. As far as "overshooting" when slapping on, I've done it a couple tmes during struggles. However, when you slap them on you know that they will always click all the way closed for a snug fit, and not half way where the suspect can slide his hand out.
I carry these cuffs on my belt on a daily basis as a back-up to my ASP Hinge cuffs. They are lightweight and have a keyhole on each side so it doesn't matter which side is up.
they may be ok to hang as a decoration but not for duty use
GREAT PRODUCT. The ability to turn the key one way to lock and the other to disengage the safetly lock and release the handcuffs is great. I would highly recommend to anyone. Unsure about the plastic surronding the double sided strand of the handcuffs but time will tell.
Great cuffs, very managable and easy to work with.
Light weight and the keyway and double-lock channel on both sides of each cuff is exceelent for field purposes. One direction unlock is a plus. Great product. Shouls be standard issue for all departments.
I believe these cuffs to be a great product and I recommend them to anyone looking to buy a quality hand restraint.. I noticed some say they can be broken by placing one rail in the middle of the others and twisting. I have not seen this done with the asp cuff but I have seen it done with s&w. I think it boils down to the suspects determination and pain tolerance not the cuffs.
Light weight and easy to utilize.
These are the bests cuffs ever. Great action and super strong. I carry two pair.
Awesome cuffs I love them. I just wished they would fit into regural cuff case.
Don't like the size. They only fit ASP cuff cases. not real bid on the locking slide
I love my ASP hinged handcuffs they are fairly new and work wonders. Lightweight, durable easy to double lock and if needed to torque for a use of force they work wonders
Awesome cuffs, a lot more maintenance friendly and they are very sturdy.
Love these cuffs, wife got me the orange ones, and i use t epink ones on the big guys that wanna fight...they really get laughed at when they get into the jail and tehy wearin matchin pink bracelets!
Very easy to use cuffs. I use them when I am working road duties. I got the black ones and the pink ones for the punks who like to act up.
Very light weight, easy to uncuff no matter what way you put them on, and easy to know if double locked or not. Great Cuffs!
I love these cuffs. They are tuff. Worth the money.
I have several pairs. They fit from the smallest woman to the largest guy. I love them!
They are comfortable to carry because they are light but they could be easily picked and opened.
Light.. Work wonderfully... of course as they always say...
The handcuffs aren't too tight, its just cause they are new, don't worry I will let you break them in!
I had to use this in a really hurry once, and time and again they work great
It is the number one way to detain a criminal and make them think about what they have done wrong once they have been arrested.
I love these cuffs. Having keyholes on both sides really help. I'm on my second set because my first set must have grown legs and walked away. The newest set for sale is OD green plastic with flat black metal. I would recommend them.
I have used these restraints and I prefer them over Smith & Wessons
ok cuffs, but not real happy with a chain link cuff
Awesome cuffs! Reliable as hell!
I love these cuffs. I have a pair that I purchased that I made my main set. Lightweight and easy use with easy double locking features and key holes on each side of the cuffs. These are the cuffs I grab first when I need to arrest someone.
