These things are dangerous! A suspect can break them open simply by putting the arm of one in between the double arms of the second and prying. Yes...I've seen it.

I use the ASP handcuffs on a regular basis to restrain prisoners in a prison. Some are weight lifters and found them very reliable.

The keyholes and double locks are on both sides of each cuff. Never worry about getting them on "right" for easy release at the jail. Very lightweight also.

I like em! But if you slam them on a suspect (like you've never done it) the arm of the cuff over shoots their mark making them useless.

I have 2 pair and I love them. With the keyhole on both sides you never have to worry about keyhole placement. Although you do have to worry about offender access to the keyhole. The double lock indicator and ability to double lock through the keyhole is a plus as is being able to remove the locking mech to clean or replace without having to replace the whole cuff.
The only way I can see to place the single arm in-between the opposing double is if you have modified the cuff with a longer chain or are having to use two sets on a big boy, neither do I recommend. Using two pair will cause them to rub and damage the polymer, therefore the structural integrity of the cuff. For that, I use my Peerless, and as to modifying, never a good Idea in my book.
I have had cuffs overshoot the channel, but never my asps, allthough nothing is fool proof. The double arms are somewhat weak sideways and prone to clamping and twisting so this is something to take into consideration. If you carry in your hip pocket, for example, the double arms can bend together causing the single arm to bind on the way through.
As with my Fobus gear, I have found you do not want to leave your asps in your car. The polymer and bonding agents don't get along well with the extreme heat and can cause a dangerous breakdown when in use.
Overall, I love my asps. A major problem is finding cases to fit. Also, you can't use a black box for the same reason, won't fit. Because of the polymer, you don't want to just throw them in the trunk to bounce around and you can't carry them in your pocket all the time either. Stay Safe

I tell you what, you will never again use your old standard cuffs. this baby is so worth the money. Light, durable, can take some serious beating, and it's easy so easy to take off. Just watch your peers, they may take your cuffs when you re not looking. Even the bad guys like them.

I would have to say that I love my ASP handcuffs. They are just the thing that a patrolman need out on the streets. With the locking mech. on both sides it is nice not to have to fight with your key and the subject to get them off.

These are nice to have around I keep a pair handy in busy areas, they are easy to use and light weight, also multi colored to use as threat markers. Alot of people tell me they can't find cases for them, but I have found the Bianchi Patroltec case works just fine, also if you have a little extra room on you belt a cuff strap works great. I have used these cuffs in night clubs, and had no problem with large drunk guy breaking them, and if anyone is good at breaking stuff it's them. I also carry S&W and they are my primary, but ASP is a great back up, I have trusted ASP batons, and training guns for years and I am glad to see they are adding to there product line.

Will not use. VERY easy to break. I think these are a liability to my safety as well as my fellow officers. I've seen offenders bend/break them and pull out of them in the amount of time it takes to close a door and open the utility port.

I love them. Lot lighter than the peerless. With the key holes on both sides I don't have to worry about "getting them on right" during a fight. At first, I wasn't to keen about getting the cases that fit the cuffs until I got them. I got space keys on the back of the case for easier access.

I've been using a set for about a year now, and love them. I have not had any personal problems with them, but have heard some horror stories from officers that have. Apparently there were some strength and integrity issues with some of the earlier models, however from my knowledge ASP has corrected the issues on the newer models that display yellow in the double lock area.

I don't use cuffs on a daily basis like a beat officer but when i saw these i was a little hesitant because of the "new" hardened plastic, when you think of hand cuffs you don't think plastic. But these perform very nice and like said before the double locks on each cuff is very nice and of course the quality of ASP is there too. Great product!

I've had these for about a year. I much prefer them to standard. Faster to cuff up, faster to uncuff. FUN to put on when they fight, flat edge makes rapid cuffing a dream, and it doesn't make me unhappy that it's uncomfortable for the mutt either. Highly recommend them. Only drawback, need a special case due to width of the cuffs, but no big deal.

Good solid set of handcuffs. It is great tactically that it is has keyholes on both sides. It is hard to get a case to fit them unless you buy the ASP case or also Aker makes one as well. I was able to fit them into a Jaypee Bikini Case by trying out several on the rack that day and was lucky to find on that fit. Uses the standard handcuff key so that is not a problem. They are also lighter that Smith and Wesson or Perless Handcuffs.

I purchsed myfirst set almost two years ago. Shortly after, I purchased a second set. I work in a prison invironment and go to the ground almost daily in fights with inmates. Replacing my issued Peerless handcuffs with these was the best thing I ever did. Whenyour on the ground struggling with a violent suspect, it's nice to know that the cuffs will go on smoot as butter, and that you will always have a key hole opposite the Scrot's hands. As far as "overshooting" when slapping on, I've done it a couple tmes during struggles. However, when you slap them on you know that they will always click all the way closed for a snug fit, and not half way where the suspect can slide his hand out.

I believe these cuffs to be a great product and I recommend them to anyone looking to buy a quality hand restraint.. I noticed some say they can be broken by placing one rail in the middle of the others and twisting. I have not seen this done with the asp cuff but I have seen it done with s&w. I think it boils down to the suspects determination and pain tolerance not the cuffs.
