Standard wrist-to-wrist restraint. Even though retired, I still keep a pair in the glovebox; never know where or when that "just in case" incident may occur... "I'd rather have and not need than to need and not have".

Sturdy construction, reputable manufacturer. Stainless steel finish requires minimum cleaning and care with maximum reliability. I don't know many LEO's who want to take the time to keep blued cuffs polished... too much of a pain.

Like Brother 204 says, reputable company and the ease of cleaning is a huge plus.. I throw mine in boiling water and then give them a shot of lube, and they are ready for the next dirtbag.

I use my for educational Purposes i am among a group of students and advisors that teach hands on at my college, so we are constantly getting cuffed....I love these cuffs, i use them quite often and have never had a problem with sticking or locking as some others have and from being on the otherside where we are getting cuffed i am thankful! Plus they are engraved with my name and favorite saying so makes them even more special!

We used to carry these until we received a bulletin advising us that the chain is breakable. Some inmates in a county jail near us had figured it out and it is really quite simple. You don't need to be very strong.

I still carry two sets of chain cuffs along with my two sets of hinged. The chain cuffs seem to fit smaller wrists better and, as mentioned earlier, it's better to have 'em and not need 'em than the other way around. (I guess it's just the Boy Scout training...LOL)

My brother passed down his first pair of S&W handcuffs to me when I followed his footsteps into law enforcement, six years later. I carried them to the academy and for about four years on the street. Altogether, they saw about ten years of heavy use before "giving up the ghost". Not bad at all! I still have them, though their days of restraining the wicked are over.

EXTREMELY reliable! I've had the same pair of S&W cuffs for almost 10 years and have never had a problem with them and it's not like they just sit in my cuff case...these get almost every day use! They're still going strong. The teeth have not worn down, the springs are still tight and smooth, easy double locking...I LOVE these!. I also own a pair of hinged S&W restraints and love those almost as much.

Hard to beat for the price. I have the newer model that's kind of oval shaped for larger wrists. Positive ratchet action and dependable. Also carry some of those flex cuffs (just big zip ties to me) in a mace holster. Might get me some thumb cuffs though. Bet if you cuff their big toes together...they can't hobble away...LOL

Hard to improve on perfection! Simply the best engineered and manufactured handcuffs ever made.

I give it a 4 out of 5 because I feel that the linked cuffs are easier to work with when you are in a highstressed situation.
