Of all the flashlights on the market today, this one surpasses the rest in dependability, reliability and all around "toughness". I have put my SL20 through hell and back. The thing I like about this particular unit is there is vertually no backlight, hence more officer safety friendly. I love it and recommend it to all officers on the street. Dump your regular SL20 and get the LED. It last longer between charges and as I mentioned its officer safety friendly.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT I WISH THEY MADE THE LED VERSION ON THE ALUMINUM LIGHTS. i HAVE USED THIS WHILE TRACKING WITH MY k-9 AND IT IS AN EXCELLENT LIGHT. THE LED IS GOOD FOR GETTING YOU OUT OF THE WOODS.

This light can save your life. How, some clandestine labs are heat sensitive. The LED does put off heat like the lamp does. Use the lamp when NOT around any suspected containers that contents are not known. Meth Heads react violent to bright light when they are in the tweaking stage. Use the LED as not to make a meth head "snap"

I liked this flashlight when I first bought it....then I dropped it a couple of times. It's a very bright light and the LEDs are a nice feature, however if you actually "use" your flashlight (i.e. knocking on doors, dropping it, etc.) it's going to break. The main halogen bulb is anchored to the reflective surface with some sort of plaster material. If you drop it, the material starts to chip away and you'll hear something rattling inside your flashlight. Eventually the stuff just crumbles and the bulb dangles and falls back into the flashlight, rendering it useless except for the LEDs. The good part is it costs under $20 to replace the halogen, the bad part is it'll happen again. I still use it though, I just carry a back up one on my belt now.

Nice light, but I have the metal brother to this Streamlight! I've had it for years and is great for "all" applications!

It's a great light, but not quite as bright as some of the other super duper portable sun tanning devices produced by STreamlight. However, I love the LED's. Saves battery life considerably. The only real negative I have is that after about a year the switch went out on me.

Have had mine for quite a while without any problems. I even dropped it a few times. The only thing that I had to do to it was charge it and replaced the main bulb once.

This is the flashlight I use nightly. I like the two buttons on the light, one for LED and the other for the light. I wish the flashlight weighed more like the MAG Light.

I use this light everynight on duty. Great primary light, but not quit heavy enought to use as an impact weapon. Of course, that is what we carry the taser for. I have been in the woods several times and had the halogen bulb die on me and have been able to get out with the LED still having some juice. LED lasts about an hour longer than the halogen. Has been a life saver several times.

awesome light....use this thing everynight on duty. love the LEDs the best, due to their low draw of battery juice....great for using to write tickets. the halogen is amazingly bright and does a great job. i have the aluminum model/

Drop it, smash windows with it, defend yourself with it, kill it and charge it back up again, and it works like new! Works for me!

I love the LED feature on this. You can use the LED for little things like filling out a ticket and use the Halogen while making the car approach. Awesome tool.

I love it!! These lights are lighter than a maglite and the brightness is unmatchable, only beat by the spotlight mounted on my car! I recommend this light to any peace officer.

I got one of these lights last year. Its a real nice alternative if you're trying to lighten your load. However, I still prefer (as most do in this area), the metal alternative. It is a reassuring weight in your hand.

I have used this flashlight since 1984 and had few problems with it. Streamlight folks used to warranty the switch, but recently found out they stopped doing that, most likley it was costing them to much money. Bulb can be a little sensitive, especially if dropped or used as a striking weapon (did I say that?). Otherwise,a good, reliable light that has seen field service for quite a number of years.

I've carried Streamlight as my primary light for over 14 years and don't plan on stopping any time soon. My original SL20 is still "in-service" (14 years old) and my other is 7 years old. From working on the street or in the field while in the U.S.M.C. I've taken them everywhere and they have been through everything. Need I say more.

Been carrying one for ten years now. I bought the poly cause my old dept. would not allow metal flash lights. I guess the 26 inch long, expandable iron pipe (a.k.a. "asp") was an over sight.

Love mine. I've got the polymer one. It's nice and light and very bright. I like the safety of the LEDs, when the battery gets too low for the halogen, you can still use the LEDs for an hour or so. Comes in very handy during those traffic jobs at night.

Good flashlight. durable and dependable. short charge time. dont like the polymer, would rather have metal. overall good flashlight

GREAT FLASHLIGHT. I DON'T USE THE LED VERY OFTEN THOUGH. I WAS ISSUED THE 3CELL MAG LITE (WHEN I CHANGED AGENCIES), IT WAS TO HEAVY (WOULDN'T STAY TUCKED UNDER MY ARM). AFTER BEING USE TO THIS LIGHTWEIGHT FLASHLIGHT I PURCHASED THIS ONE MYSELF, AND TURNED THE MAG.

I have a hard time with this light staying on the charger along with everybody else in the department but very bright and handy light not to heavy but still bright enough.

Very lightweight flashlight. Halogen bulb is very bright. LED's are useful but not very bright. There are three LED bulbs which are excellent if you don't need the brightness of the halogen bulb. I have been a long time user of Mag flashlights. After using this flashlight on duty, it is hard to go back.

Like the streamlight line of flashlights. I was issued a standard aluminum SL-20 when I started and plan to replace it in '09 with the new LED version. I prefer the aluminum over the polymer because it can be used as a "stun" weapon if you need to create distance and move to another weapon and I also just like the feeling in hand over the polymer.

I have had this light for many years now and have utilized it a LOT. I Like the light but about a year ago decided to go back to the Mag Charger. The maglite seems a little brighter and it gives me another tool if needed without having to carry a baton on my belt.

Always had the SL-20 plugged into the lighter of my Patrol Unit for years. Between that and the Stinger I always was prepared with a charged flash light.

we carry inova t4's on our belts, but have the sl-20xp's mounted on the wall in the office. These are great flashlights. I also use one at home.

Have had the same rechargeable battery pack for three years. Still works great. I have dropped it hundreds of times on the pavement and keeps on working.

I workinthe woods alot and outof all the lights ive had in the past this one lights up the woods the best. It gives you a very wide angle of light

I have carried maglights, first generation streamlights and just about every type of disposable flashlights but I purchased this light to carry at my department about 2 years ago and can't say enough about it. The LEDs still light up even when the halogen bulb is beginning to die. I like to use this light in building searches when you don't want to give up your position with the full flood of a halogen. As a matter of fact my department just replaced all the old streamlights with these.

Love it. Its light and bright. Dont try to break any car windows with it. :)

I like this light, but it has its pros and cons, its great for traffic, I can use the main bulb when I approach the vehicle, and the LED's when I write my citation. The material makes the light stick right in your armpit. I dont like it when im on a call if I have to use it to hit someone. Streamlight makes the same light in a metal body, that one has all the same benefits, but keeps sliding out of my armpit.

Dept started issuing these a cpl yrs ago to replace standard SL-20 XP's. The LED is a great idea-- good for navigating around or close up work like writing cites, examining documents/DL's, or even searching cars. I prefer the XP because it stays tucked under the arm better than the aluminum lights. Great to have the option of halogen or LED.

I bought this light after my MagLite kept breaking the bulbs. I took a ton of crap about it's "plastic" look but I can tell you from experience, I've dropped it countless times and even had it fly out of my hand (inexplicably) during foot pursuits right towards the perp and never had any problem. It'll take a beating.

Great light... nice and bright and the LED's are awesome when you need'em. Would prefer it to be meta just in case you needed it to find it's target but it will do. No problems what so everl

I just got one the other day. I like it alot, the LED is great for use with a traffic cone and if you need just a little lite to read by. The Halogen bulb puts our plenty of light and the whole package is light weight.

In my opinion these lights are not very dependable. We have these lights mounted in every one of our patrol vehicles and they suck! I wouldnt recommend anyone to get one of these. Stick with the mag light; it will never fail you.

By far the best light on the market. Rugged and lightweight. Perfect for any situation.

Good strong light (halogen model) and those that have the one with LED's say its even better, but not much brighter.

This is a great Light, the only issue I have had is the switch went out but it was easy to get fixed
