Strand Forensic Technologies have developed and patented the TriggerPro ID™ (pat. pending), a kit that can collect minute amounts of trace DNA from handguns, which have historically been difficult to collect fingerprints from. The preliminary research performed by Strand Forensic Technologies illustrates an impressive over 60% success rate of collecting enough DNA to obtain an analyzable profile. This is compared to an estimated 6% success rate with handgun fingerprint identification.
