This is a great piece of equipment. It is one of the best handguns I have ever shot. The XD Model is my firearm of choice.
I carry the XD 45 tactical ( 5" ) I agree, I was extremely impressed with the feel & agility of this weapon. It made hitting the targets too easy.
This is my primary duty firearm, I also shoot police combat matchs with it. The gun always hits were you point and with the trigger changed to 5lb it is vary stable in all aspects of shooting.
Love the way it fits in your hand. Grip is not as wide as the glock, it also has the ambidextrious magazine release, and no external safeties.
Very smooth firing gun. I have shot many pistols in my life, and not one feels as smooth.
This weapon is extremely accurate right out of the box, Springfield is not lying when it states 'where you point is where it shoots'. The grip is thick, which works well for people like me with very large hands, and the overall quality is outstanding. With a capacity of 13+1 and all of the XD gear included in the kit, it is an excellent package without breaking the bank.
This is an awesome firearm! Right out of the box it is accurate, balanced, and performs extremely well. I recommend it to anyone who uses a Glock as it is very comparable, but seems to have a better feel to it.
I like the feel of this gun in my hand. I tried several other .45's and this one was a perfect fit. It shoots great and I have yet to have any problems with this weapon after over 1000 rds at the range. For some reason it would not let me give it the 5 star rating I think it deserves.
The BEST polymer handgun on the market. Completely out performs the Glock 21.
I love my XD. Keep it in my nightstand with a Surefire TLR-1. Had to have a custom paddle holster built for it though, couldn't find anybody that made a kydex holster that would carry it with the light attached.
Wow! Picked this baby up as a pistol to use for duty carry or stock competition and I have been extremely impressed since I got it a week ago. The price, accuracy, accessories, and warrenty make this 45 a real winner. The only thing I don't like about it is how it is a 4 inch, it would handle much better as 4.5 inch.
This firearm is outstanding. Our department currently issues S&W 4506 .45. These guns are extremely heavy and have a tendency to break down easily. The Springfield is a great gun, it has a good light weight to it, it is very fun to shoot and very easy to work and clean. Not to mention that you can hold the same mount of bullets in the .45 as you can in the 9mm. OUTSTANDING!
Outstanding weapon. Have run approx. 5000 rounds through this weapon and have not had any weapon failures. My wife has the 40 cal and says that it shoots the best of any gun she has ever handled.
I have two guns on my carry card as a retired police officer. One is an airweight Smith & Wesson Chief in .38 caliber and the other is the Springfield XD 45.
The Springfield is the one I carry while working my security job which I kept when I left the police dept. after 21 years. I wanted a higher capacity .45 auto than the Sig Sauer P-220 which we carried at the police department. The 14 round capacity of the XD is great, because unlike when I was on the PD, I don't have a radio and quick backup isn't always an option.
The XD is balanced perfectly in my opinion, has the tactical rail for lights, laser, etc. and is an all around excellent performer for me. I have never had this weapon jam ever, and I have carried it for 2 years now. I have never failed to qualify the first round with this weapon, sights are spot on and I wouldn't be without this weapon. The palm safety adds another measure of safety that Glocks lack. This should help in theory anyway with some of the dreaded holstering accidental discharges I have been told Glocks have suffered.
All in all for the money an excellent performer, solid, reliable and the finish, and fit is excellent.
Being the first handgun that I have owned, I am thrilled with its use and function. It is easy to maintain and a great 45 pistol. I have put some old ammo and some crap ammo through the pistol at the range and it performed without flaw. The grip and safety features make this pistol a good first pistol purchase for a new gun owner
THIS IS THE FIREARM MY DEPT. USES AS WELL... IT ROCKS!! QUESTION THOUGH- DOES EVERYONE USE THE SAFARILAND HOLSTER WITH THE POLYMER BACK??? DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A COMPANY THAT MAKES A HOLSTER FOR THIS FIREARM THAT HAS A LEATHER BACK ( WHERE IT ATTATCHES TO DUTY BELT- POLYMER "DIGS" MY HIP)???? THANK YOU FOR ANY RESPONSES! C-
GREAT GUN!!!!! My second handgun overall and this is the best one. I've had a Glock 21 and the grip angle just isn't comfortable but this gun's angle is the best. I use the Safariland 6280 Holster with an STX finish and I don't really like this holster. I'm more comfortable with one that doesn't have the SLS technology.
My first semi auto was a Glock 21. It served me well, but it didn't quite fit me the way this pistol has. For a 45, it's accurate and smooth. Even in little hands such as my girl's and brothers, it is an easy grip. Though a full size pistol the handling is superb, and that's why i trust it enough to be placed on my permit.
Of all the .45cal handguns I have seen this is by far one of the best handguns for your money. With 13 rounds of .45 caliber federal hydra-shok I would feel safe in the knowledge that whatever the other guy has doesn’t even compare. Also, it does come with some free accessories, which aren’t the greatest but “If it’s free it’s for me”. This is certainly going to be one of my carry concealed guns. The only thing is that a smaller shooter may have trouble with the shear bulk of this gun. It would better for a person with larger hands.
I was carrying the 45 on duty and my wife as a 9mm and she loves the 9mm. I don't like the 45 as it takes both thumbs to drop the magazine and the trigger pull is very stiff. It will cause you to pull your shots. It's made very well and is tough but have switched back to my Springfield 1911 for duty. I would not recommend this pistol unless you can afford to have the trigger worked on to make it better.
You can't beat the price and it is reliable and accurate. It has a natural pointablity to it that I really love. I wish i could carry it at work I like it much more than our issued HK USP Comp 45s
VERY GOOD WEAPON WITH EXTRA MAG CAPACITY
I bought this gun for personal use and love it. It's by far one of my favorites.
You can't go wrong with Springfield's XD line. This .45 has a 13 round magazine + 1 in the hole...what more do you need? Requires no "break-in" period--extremely accurate right out of the box. Comes with highly desirable features such as a grip safety, tac-light rail, and special-attachment slot on the bottom of the handle. I have also not had a misfire to date! Plus for the price, it really can't be beat.
by far one of the best duty weapons i've used. both in the field and on street duty this firearm holds up. it has been through mud, sand, salt and fresh water, snow, you name it. it has yet to have any malfunction of consequense. i highly recommend this equipment to anyone looking for a reliable, durable, and lasting firearm.
AN.....U KNO DIS MAAAAAANNNNNNN..............
This is a great gun. I shot one and fell in love with it. So... I went out and traded my Glock 22 in on it. I have always been a fan of the 45acp but never wanted to carry my National Match as a duty weapon. The XD is everything the Glock 21 isn't. It fits your hand and is compact. I qualify with it in the morning so we will see if I shoot as well ans my gun can.
This gun is awsome. I have one for personal use. Just shoot it one time and you will be in love!
This is a great shooting gun but being a big guy its a little to light in my hands I prefer the weigh of a Sig 220.
I have always been a 1911 man, have carried one for over 45 years. I also have a SIG 220, which was my first concession to DA guns and it's a fine self defense and duty gun. I had a Glock 21 and I could never feel comfortable with the triger relaese as all my training with the 1911 was difficult if not impossible to forget as it has become instinct and automatic on my part. Then Springfiled comes along with the XD 45 with 4 inch barrel with guess what? A THUMB SAFETY and a GRIP SAFETY in the same placesas a 1911 has them !!
I shot one at the range, loved it and bought one. I like the light weight, I find it easily conmtrolled and very accurate. It feeds any type of .45 (I haven't tried wad cutters yet) and it is a dream to maintain. So, in essence, Springfield came out with a gun that 1911 shooters can transition to safely. With so many negligent discharges with Glock type by shooters and cops who have been trained on that gun, (fingers or debris in the trigger guard when holstering, etc) I believe the thumb safety enhances the gun for police and military use. Oh, and in a proper belt slide holster, the gun conceals well. I never thought I'd buy a tupperware gun, but I did and have never looked back.
Excellent Weapon!
