| Description: | Steyr AUG is a family of firearms, first introduced in 1977 by the Austrian company Steyr Mannlicher.[2] AUG stands for Armee-Universal-Gewehr, meaning "Universal Army Rifle."[5] It is often used to refer to a specific version, especially the initial version which was 5.56 mm NATO bullpup assault rifle, with a distinctive green frame and integrated scope. It has since spawned a variety of related weapons including a submachine gun, a designated marksman rifle, and light machine guns. It has been adopted by a number of armed forces and organizations and is the standard service rifle of Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Luxembourg, Ireland, and at one time Malaysia. |
I purchased mine through the law enforcement officer purchase program via GunSough in the early 1990's. I love the design and action and have used it a lot in 3-gun matches.
My department has these, there alot of fun at the range and very light but the three round burts is not good for law enforment when every round has to be acounted for. But if your target is a crowd of zombies in a foot ball stands then this is the weapon for you. Becasue when you shoot at the one in the first row you will also hit the ones in the 4th and 6th row too.
I have held this weapon, but I couldn't shoot it (indoors), I love the balance, but it is a bit weighty.
Anyone heard about the USR?
great police weapon
