This is a great impact weapon that can really reach out and touch someone when you need to. All the years I carried an ASP baton I used it 6 times. 1 rottweiler mix that was gonna get shot or get hit (1 strike upside the head during an full out attack on me was quite effective) Five human type creatures, 4 of those were closed strikes. Very effective close end weapon when space is at a premium.
26" gives plenty of reach and combined with the airweight model is an awsome tool. If properly trained (i recomend going through at least the advanced training class and the instructor if you can) can be used very effectively in a variety of situation extended as well as closed
It'll leave a mark.
Fingerprinted a guy that one of these was used on the morning after his arrest. It was very effective and he was crying due to the pain when I rolled his prints.
I like it because its easily carried.
Works great
Much better impact weapon than the old PR-24, It's easy to carry always on you, Very dangerous in the hands of the rookies.
I want this, so if you read this seety, remember my birthday.
i actually used to look down on these, it was small and the pr24 is just so much more intimadating, but the reaction you get.. just the noise it makes lol it will definatley leave a real nice bruise though and dont play with it inside im 6'7 and found out the hard way lol
Like the other poster I to am 6'7" and needed an impact weapon that was useful. Some of my friends use a 16" for tight spaces, but I prefer the 26" for reach.
They all serve the purpose.
perfectly engineered. unfortunately, i work overseas, and was arrested by an overzealous cop in chula vista, ca.
The 26" is very effective and I carry it on regular patrol. I have had a few problems with the grip rolling, but that was easily fixed with the replacement grip. I do however prefer the 16", it is easily concealed and can be maneuvered very well. There are several baton companies out there but ASP has made a strong name for there selves.
Having had the wooden baton when I started walking a foot beat in the city I would have never NEVER thought that they would have given me a STEEELLLL PIPE and told me to hit someone with it as hard as I could>>>>LOL...... WHO'DA THUNK IT
Love the way it opens and it's easier to get out of the holster than trying to pull your standard baton from it's ring. I like the new caps that you can personalize it.
This baton is quick on the draw and easy to carry. It's compact size and non-threatening carry makes it a favorite among law enforcement officers today. Only draw back is that after a couple of strikes it colapses so you have to re-extend it again to stay in the fight.
What more can you say. You get to swing a metal pipe around lol. This is a great piece of equipment. You know when you been struck with this. Also serves as a good pry bar for people who like to lie on their arms!!!
Missed my PR-24 until I trained with this........one less thing to grab when you get out of the vehicle..
excellent weapon. I have carried the 16" for 9 years. works like new
I have aready post a review on this product. However, after seeing it posted several times I think I need to re-post. This product is CRAP. I had one and used it several times. Left nice marks/welts on skin but no effect on stopping the fight. Mine collapsed to many times during fights. Partners bent shafts. All the weight is in the handle making the need to sing very hard. I swapped mine for the RCB ( Rapid Containment Baton) by peace keeper products. The RCB is machined better for less chance of collapsing. Larger striking surface, and the weight is not in the handle. Used mine 3 times now and it has been 10x's more effective. just imagine the Asp results times at least 10 (in my opinion 100x's). dump ASP, ASAP!
I like it, but I have to admit I miss the old wood night sticks back in the day. Sorry, just having a moment. The good old days. I'll just drift off now....................................................................
Never used this before or even own one but how can you resist something that you can beat someone with from 2 feet away that can basically fit in your pocket. Evil doers beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being compact, it's easier both to carry, and to get in and out of vehicles. Wooden batons always ended up being tossed in the seat, although some cops do the same with expand-ables. My only concern is the durability, and whether it holds up under parried blows as well as swinging it full-force. Collapsing it is seems sort of clumsy also (slamming the button into the ground). Nontheless, it is being used almost exclusively today, so my concerns are not all-conclusive.
It's better than the PR24 by a long shot. I've only used mine twice (both times to break automobile windows). The last time I used it, it broke before the window did. The side break scabbard is good for about two years and then you start losing the baton due to the stretching.
They are compact and easy to carry, but just like others have said they do bend and then you have a hard time getting them to collapse again. I put mine away and went back to the old wooden stick.
I own the 26 in. model. Good to have when you live in a bad neighborhood full of
hoodlums and undocumented clowns..!!
I have never had any problems with these bending like i have expandable pr-24 batons
great tool beats the old style
Not too long to be impractical but long enough to help maintain some sort of reactionary distance. And, of course, it'll leave a mark.
Best baton you can buy!
I have carried one of these forever. It is great to have it with you at all times, I like the old wooden stick but I the fact that I have my ASP with me at all times makes me feel better
I really liked carring this item. I stood up to normal and un-normal abuse very well.
a MUST HAVE defense weapon for the ones you need to reach out and touch!
One of the best police impact weapons made.
If your going to buy an ASP Baton then buy the 26". It's the best all around size.
Highly Recommended. I use it at the job and it's great.
I have carried the ASP 26" since 2000...It is a great product...
Extending this baby will get the attention of the crowd. Easy to use and durable. Great product.
Good item It will make a big man go down in pain (and I don't mean by hitting them on the head) Ha!
Started off over here with a 12" wooden truncheon! Then we moved up to the 24" solid acrylic batons. Now, except for public order, we have the ASP. An excellent piece of kit this side of the pond!
Love it, great multi-purpose tool. I only wish I was allowed to carry one of the larger ones.
This is a good impact weapon for situation requiring less force. I like how it is lightweight and comes in a variety of sizes. It is very durable and I enjoy the directional ASP holders that can be purchased with them.
Had it for a long time it seems. Works great for its intended use and great for breaking windows, convincing dogs of their errant ways etc. My only problems with it is closing it. We've got some dirt roads and asphalt. Kind of hard to close it without concrete to hit it on.
carry the 26" i know some that carry the 31" and it just seems to long for me.. i like the control of the 26.....
I carry the 26" and it is the perfect size for me. I haven't had any issues with that baton, just make sure you get a good holder for it.
I have the F16 model and I've used it once or twice. Did the job and didn't break! Thats all that matters to me.
ASP kicks Ass, I have 1 - 16", and a 26" off market brand, the Asp has all that I have used beat. I still love my PR-24 because I was trained to use a Tonfa and the similarity and training that I recieved with both combined make ANY Baton a formidable weapon.
This is a good stick. I carry the 26 inch and own the mini that I carry for protection details. You can beat the crap out these and they still work.
Great stick. I have the 26" and its extremely durable. I"ve used it to beat and bang on just about everything. It's like time-x, "takes a lickin and keeps on tickin." I've personally never had any trouble with deployment or fast retraction. ASP makes a GRADE A product.
Top of the line! Light weight and durable. Highly recommended.
Stays on my seat caddy...the only thing I have found it to work on, since I got a Taser are windows
Great weapon.
A very effective tool for Law Enforcement.
Great product - it is an intimidating tool that has a large number of possible uses.
i carry this at work
Fun to use, sometimes a pain to close though.
I love my baton, it has never let me down.
I love my baton...everytime I have opened it to use to check melons for seeds it has come through. I find that when used on idiots who want to fight the police and have already made up their mind on the hospital stay it is very effective.
Fits great on my duty belt.
Good Item had a couple of them.
Great little tool, as long as you hold on when you flick it...;-) Larger end cap helps also.
never had any problems with it
Always reliable.
Get's the job done!
Any question?
Can't go wrong with the asp. Just like anyone, from time to time, it hangs when you get overly zealous, but has saved met a few times.
Very effective impact weapon that is easily deployed.
YYYYEEEEESSSSSS.........
