Being a former P220 (.45acp) carrier I was not fond of my department's decision for a polymer replacement in .357 sig. These weapons have malfunctioned or broken numerous times right out of the box. The weapon is clumsy and poorly fitted causing it to rattle and jingle like a toy. I've seen first hand the .357 Sig round has failed to stop suspects shot in center mass, unless there are multiple shots offered. Overall, this weapon is not a personnel stopper, or as reliable as the P220 in .45ACP. Apparently the manufacturer agrees as it is no longer offered for sale in the US under the same name (blueline).
I had to change my review, I love my gun and have had no problems with it but yes hosters are hard to find.......I had to mod my current one to fit. You can find off duty holsters, unclemikes, fobus
I've had this weapon in the 40. cal for about 5 years shot many thousands of rounds only problem was the slide failed to lock with empty mag changed ammo never happened again but 1 malfunction was enough to put dought in the weapon had to change to Glock 21 sf still own the 2340 but I don't carry it anymore another down fall is its a pain in the rump to find holsters duty or cc
It's a wonderful firearm. I've been carrying this gun on and off duty for about six years. Never had a problem of any kind with it. I've put 10K+ rounds through it.
duty weapon
I bought this handgun for a part time law enforcement job. I carry a P229 for my full time job and I wanted to stay with Sig because the P229 is such a great handgun. This gun is less expensive than the 229 and because I was paying out of pocket for this weapon it made sense. It does not have the same feel as the more expensive Sigs. It came with two different grips. Neither grip made the gun feel comfortable in my hand. I wish I spent a couple hundred dollars more and bought a P229.
I own this weapon personally and it is wonderful to shoot. It has interchangable grips and comes in .40 cal and .357 sig. I have the .357 sig model. It is very accurate and a comfortable feel while shooting, but the problem is that it does get very top heavy when the magazine is almost empty. The night sights on it are wonderful. The other problem is holsters. You can find off duty holsters all day long, however, you cannot find one for duty use. I had to get one specially made by Safariland for the weapon. No one carries a holster for duty use. This would be a great weapon for home protection, sport shooting, and off duty use.
I have fired this weapon, and I just can't feel it. Some SiGs don't fit right in my hand as it is, but this has to be the worst fit I have ever had.
We have used these as STANDARD carry for several years . Quality is 10 scale 1-10, Accuracy is 10 scale 1-10.
They are TIGHT well exceeding 20K rounds.
This is the weapon I bought from another officer in my departmant. I've never had a problerm with it and quallifying with is has always come easy. Although holsters are almost non-exsistant especially duty holsters. Magazines are also very hard to find and are getting more expensive all the time. I still carry this weapon on and off duty though and trust it with my life.
I currently carry this firearm with my department. I have never had a problem with this weapon as far as shooting or qualifying. I have had some concern with the maintenance with it. My last weapon the Sig P-226 was easier to take apart and put back together but I get her done. Some Officers in my department have not cleaned the weapon this concerns me as far as back-up.
This was my first Sig - great feel. Accurate shooter.
shot one and liked it. only put about 50 rounds through it with no problems.
This is definitely not the Sig you might be used to. The construction is sloppy, we've had several go back to the factory and the magazines rattle like an infant's toy. I qualify with my personal Glock 22 for off-duty carry because this thing better belongs in my closet than my waistband.
I carry this off duty in .357. I have put 10k through it without a malfunction or stopage
I carry this for a duty weapon, it's not failed me yet but the noise with the mag is the spring gets weak so you need to empty the mag from time to time and let it rest. I know many won't agree with me on this but I have done it and you can see the difference. I carry the .40 cal version. Though I know ppl that have had the night sites come out of the front site. I have no issues with mine.
