It may look funny, but it's worth any teasing you may get until your fellow officers try it for themselves. I got mine online from USCav.com and I love it. After suffering the heat for the last ten years, I'm looking forward to the next twenty. Buy it!...You will not regret it. They sell a K-9 model also, but I'm able to hook mine onto the cage in my unit when I want to give my dog an extra dose of cool air.
********NEW COMMENT********
Hot and Sweaty after a foot pursuit....................Not worth a S#@!
CoolCop...............................................................$50.00
CoolCop after a foot pursuit through a neighborhood, through the woods, across the interstate... twice...and back into the woods...........................PRICELESS
I saw this advertise on the news. A department is equipping their officers with them. Nice tool to have especially in the summer time.
I think it's cool that they have this for people like myself who sweats a lot .I wish we could have that in IRAQ where I am at now.Just by reading about it and looking at the photo. I would give it 5 stars
this looks cool
So did you catch him....you wuss? And the hose goes in the shirt.....not your pants.
THIS IS A GREAT ME AND K9 SHARE THIS AFTER A LONG HOT TRACK
I don't know about this thing....never tried it out but can't say I would even if we had em. Sometimes you just have to suffer the heat then look like an idiot. Reminds me of when my former partner bought a giant pickle at a convenience store. I told him I wasn't leaving the parking lot until he either ate the whole thing or threw it out the window....who the hell buys a giant pickle to eat while on duty (or off)???
this looks really good and i might just have to go out and get one
This is a must have item for any LEO's working in extreme hot areas. Just have to becareful if your to sweaty and stick this under your vest, it will make you very cold very fast and even start to make you shiver.
This is a great product that should have been out a long time ago! I love the idea of using it as an extra cooling device for your K9 as well. Great Product!
Looks funny, but I know an officer who has used it and loved it in the 95+ degree heat.
Nice tool to have to keep cool, but my partner was telling me that there were several officers who had gotten pneumonia (sp?) and a few died from going from one extreme temp to the next. Anyone heard the same thing?
This is what officers need after those intense foot races with fleet of foot perpetrators riding back to the precint. Because I would imagine that it will get real hot especially in California, Neveda, and those other intensely heated states.
too bad they don't have something for motor officers...my hubby is one here in vegas and let me tell you there are days what with the equipment, vest, heat from bike, 112 average temps...they need ac system for them!!! That is an awesome invention.
AZ an AZ cop, heat is a big issue...it seems like a good idea. Also I have found that a flat blue-ice packet really works wonders under the vest when frozen. Tadaa! Sometimes the simplest answers are the best. Price: one dollar.
I have caught a good bit of flak over this wonderful invention by my co-workers, but they have all changed their minds and begged me to let them use it after they have worked a major wreck on the interstate in 100 degree heat with 95% humidity. I wish we could get them issued to every vehicle.
WTF .... It looks like a vacuum cleaner hose to me. What a waste of money.
I think I would have to get permission to tint my windows to 5% before I would be seen with this "life support system" hanging out of me. HOWEVER - I am one of those individuals who can sweat in a snowstorm (proven fact) so this contraption seems to be the ideal thing, especially with body armor and 30 lbs of duty gear to haul around. I just hope I can pull off looking as "cool" as the guy modeling it in the picture. - Can you imagine trying to pursue someone on foot without being able to get unhooked fast enough - hauling ass down the block with a vacuum cleaner hose attached to you...?!!!
You may look like a tool wearing it, but it is awsome!!! A nust have for hot humid weather!!! I get a lot of use out of mine here in S. Florida
This thing is awsome in south Alabama. The only drawback is if you have a partner he might fight you for the vent!
I heard the same thing as LCarvin... I dunno though never known anyone to have one!
Looks like a hassle to me
It may look like a Hassle, but here in Texas, We gotta do something to stay cool with all this gear on. Awesome Product.. (I made my own tho, i didnt buy it)
have heard nothing but good about the cool cop
I would recommend this product to everyone, no matter how silly it looks. A couple deputies in my department had it, and I was reluctant to by it, but did anyway. Now I would not trade this thing at all. It is hands down a great product for the hot/humid weather.
The only thing missing is the NASCAR full face helmet with the same hose attached to it.......LOL
GOOD IDEA BUT LOOKS LIKE A vacuum cleaner
this thing is like the darth vader of cooling
I found out about this product in my POLICE magazine over 6 months ago. I told a deputy I did a ride along with and the next thing I know the department is on the news cuz the whole department started getting them. Many officers commented on how it helps to keep their body cool in between stops and it helps limit the smell caused from sweating (which I'm sure many wives appreciate:)). It also is a good system for those officers who refuse to wear a vest because of the heat, well they no longer have that excuse!
Working in the AZ heat this would really be helpful. However BEWARE.... Like others have said going from extreme heat to cooling your core temp is VERY dangerous. Try using the lowest cool setting and working your way colder. You can pass out.
At first glance this product appears alittle korney but putting function before fashion I would think that on a hot day it may be just what the doctor ordered. My only concern would be getting in a foot pursuit, having it not break away, and dragging that hose down the street
That would be too funny....then the scum bag uses the hose to choke you up and .......officer safety would have to be a concern....if you can't take the heat find another kitchen...I'd rather smell than be dead!!
YEAH... THATS FREAKIN COOL! I NEED THAT WITH HEAT ... RIGHT NOW I FREEZZZZZ GOING AND COMING TO WORK !
I WANT THIS SOOOO BAD!!!! THIS WOULD BE THE PERFECT BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR ME!!!
Reminds me of Christopher Reeves,no disrespect intended for the deceased actor.
This looks pretty cool, Comfort on patrol..what a concept!
For those of us who sweat in the shade this is an awesome thing to have in your cruiser for that quick cool down!
.
After 10 yrs serving in Palm Beach County, FL this is the single greatest tool I own. I wish I had thought of it. I get picked on at work, but those that pick on me ask to use it after being out in the heat for more than 20 mins.
This looks like it could actually work. It is so simple I wonder why it hasn't been thought of before. It is hard to tell from the photo but it looks as though the tubing could get in the way of driving. I would have to reserve my opinion until I tried it. Where can you get it?
What if it gets stuck in your shirt when you go to get out? Nice idea tho. Great for a K9 cage.
The greatest invention ever thought of...it gets better with every upgrade.
Looks pretty cool. No pun intended. I have not used it. But here in Georgia it may help on a normal 12 hr shift when it's above 100.
