| Description: | The new Safariland SLS duty holster features a revolutionary rotating hood design that makes sure you are the only one who can pull your gun from its holster during a struggle. The hood can only be released by being simultaneously pushed down and rotated forward, it actually becomes more secure when upward force is applied |
The Department went to this holster last year when we switched from the S&W Model 65 .357 Revolver to the S&W M&P 40. Personally, I've found it easier to draw my weapon using this locking hood design rather than the old thumb-break style snap. The tactical finish appears to be holding up pretty well.
My department went to this holster. I like it.
This holster is ok. The retention strap gets pushed down by our vests every time my partners and I get into or out of the car.
I love thsi holster. Easy to get use to.
I have that, and you can take the weapon out from behind and in front of you(easier), by doing a Karate type forward move with your hand and down between the body and holster (button) and then grabbing the weapon and pulling toward you. A Swat Lt. Officer from my ex-Dept showed me that. I was stunned, I have been using similar types for years....
like the holster just wish i could find it for my Springfield 9mm
great holster. quick draw and great retention
I have had 3 different types of holster, this one is the best.
I just got this holster and I have to say: this thing is great! The newest version has a guard over the top of the hood that is designed to keep your vest (or fat roll, in some cases) from unlocking the hood. It's classified as a 2+ retention level now because addition of the guard; it helps protect the hood from being activated by someone attacking from the front. The SLS is easy to draw from once you get the motion down and becomes a very natural action. I like this a lot better than my Uncle Mikes Pro 3... I'll report back after the next range day.
I have tried this holster out and I have to say WOW this is my next holster
we use this holster at my department. I would say it is one of the better holsters I have used. It is not complex and makes for an easy draw.
I used this in the acadmey. I liked it.
It's really a level one, I don't care what they call it.
It's a pretty good functional holster.
Nice tactical holster...able to draw on target pretty quick ..so far it's holding up pretty well, no problems with it yet.
Good holster, the straight draw takes some getting use to when your use to a triple three 070 holster.
Good piece of gear.....I prefer it's big bro in the drop leg configureation. However,This is a brand name that does deliver on the goods and I thank them for putting out products that do what they say they can do under stress. 2 Big thumbs up.
I like it. Its quick in a pich but its a little bulky.
I have this holster in the drop leg style. Its easy for you to get your gun out, but yet still tough enough and rugged enough that a perop will have a hard time gettin your gun.
Used this holster when my department carried HK USP's. It's one of the best there is. I've ordered on for my Glock and can't wait for it to get here.
I can't say for sure but this looks like the holster that I used, if I'm correct it has some type of locking system that protects your firearm from being snatched in a struggle. There were many opportunities for this officer to possibly be the victim of my own weapon but this holster and strong combat skills saved my life.
I'm still trying to get use to it. I have had trouble pulling the weapon out of the holster. I have loosened the tension but well see.
I got this today and it is really weird to get used to the action to draw, but after about 50 times I am starting to get the hang of it. I figure 50 more draws a day and by the time I graduate I should be pretty darn good. I like the extra action for the second step, could end up saving my life!
This is the holster that I have for my duty belt. This holster takes a little getting used to at first. I actually prefer the rotating type of hood than the other types that I have (snap, velcro).
Great Holster! Very popular with the NPS (although ours are cordovan safari-laminate leather) I have the tac light version with P226ST or P220ST as my duty weapon. I added the additional lock for the SLS hood which still keeps the draw fast and natural. I LOVE THIS HOLSTER.
Have this holster in the tac light version and the regular version. They are both great and very tough and safe to wear. Great product.
if you use a mounted light this it the holster you want. level 2 or buy a $7 button and turn it into a level 3. it's easy to use secure and looks good.
It gets the job done, well made and I can draw from it easy.
Big upgrade from the CQC I broke the first week. Takes some getting used to and scratches the hell out of my Beretta, but very secure and solid. Reholsters can be awkward.
I CARRY THIS HOLSTER ON DUTY AND ITS EASY TO USE AND IS EASY TO DRAW FROM.
I like the retention it provides as long as you kick down the extra 7 bucks for the sentry lock. Nice smooth draw
great holster found it to be much better then the thumb break holsters out there
Real good holster, we use them I have no problems or complaint about them.
no complaints here. i like it.
This is an exellent holster.Easy to make that 1.5 seconds.
Excellent holster I have several of these holsters for different weapons.
This product is becoming more and more popular around here! i truely believe this one one of the Best!
My department carries this holster in BW finish. It is accessible but I don't like the retention.
Easy to use.great retention.
great holster
I have chosen a very similar holster for our department to transition to when we receive our new Glock 22 & Glock 23 weapons. We will be equipping our Glocks with Streamlight TLR-1 lights for duty use. The holster we will be using is the ALS version of this holster which incorporates an additional level of security which makes the holster more snatch resistant and will not allow the gun to be removed simply by rotating the hood forward. The hood must be rolled forward and another minor natural action needs to be taken to allow the weapon to be removed from the holster.
All in all I think it will be a very good system.
Just my $.02
I love this holster. I use it on my nylon rig. Very secure and very durable. Awesome product. Keep up the good work Safariland.
I bought this as a duty holster and have found it to be a very good holster. It has forced me to get a proper grip. I like the thumb break protector, it keeps the hood from being released by my vest.
This is the first holster i have owned and i have no complaints. It was easy to adjust to and prvides good weapon retention and is more difficult to get open for an attacker. The one I have came without the extra hood cover but doesn't create any major problems other than is comes open on occasion due to my vest hitting it. Also this holster makes you get a good and proper grip when drawing your weapon.
Just got this holster with the tac-light (tlr-2) option and the sentry lock option for a Glock 22 and 21. I'm going to have to practice with this a bit since it is a different from my other Safariland holster. I have used Safariland holsters for about a year now and all I have to say is that they are GREAT! Can't wait to put this one to the test....Quals is on friday.
This is one awesome holster safety wise and is a snap to use.
I thought this was great until our department was preacticing weapon retention at the range. If the assailant grabs the weapon from the front and you are holding everything down, guess what, the hood is opened. I also have the problem with the vest unlocking the hood too. I like the holseter but would like to see a better design for the hood. I still think the SLR of the Bianchi is the best, personally speaking.
This is a good holster. It is adaptable to concealed carry as well by just changing the belt connector or to a tactical holster as well. It can also have a hood cover attached or a locking lever to prevent inadverdant hood movement. Which can be a help in areas where extra security could be needed(It does take some real practice sessions to learn to use the lock the right way.). Just note though for concealed carry it does stick out more than a good concealment holster.
Great design. Only the initiated would know how to release the hood. Takes a little bit to get used to, but it becomes intuitive after a while. Practice drawing your weapon and dry-firing a few hundred times, and it will quickly become your favorite.
Good holster
Good holster once you break it in.
this is an awsome holster. i use everyday on the job with my S & W 40 cal. M & P. i believe it is truly the most secured holster out there. its true that its really hard for anyone else to get your gun out of your holster. making it safer for you and keeping you from accidently droping your weapon out of your holster while on foot chase
Best holster I have used. Straight draw, means natural draw for me. I use this with a Kimber TLE/RL II with light attached. I have suggested this to everyone that asks me locally, and they all say thank you after purchasing and using it.
My department went to this holster for supervisors, I like it , this holster is very user friendly.
Our officers will be issued this holster next for their Glocks.
great holster I love it got one on my belt and on a thigh rig good smooth holster
i use this product, seem to work well for me.
