I have ridden Harley's and BMW's. I was skeptical at first when the local Honda dealership gave us the motorcycle. It is quick and comfortable. Not quite the tradition that the Harley is but I did not feel beat up at the end of the day.
I ride a Honda myself and although it is truely not a Harley, I do enjoy riding it.
Fastest bike I have ever drove. Several guys who would die before giving up their harley's have now switched. Hot bike.
Super-reliability. There are ST1100 Pan-Europeans still going in Europe with 200,000+ miles. I have never rode motors, but privately owned a 1991 ST1100. For traffic enforcement this is a ton more bike than the Harley, but for escorts & parades I have to admit I still love the classic styling from the boys in Milwaukee.
This bike was replaced by the ST1300 in (I think) 2002. If you are a fan, check out the 1300.
Be careful, Bike has been withdrawn by some UK police forces, as it can get VERY unstable at high speed ( over 120+).............. when fitted with additional Police gear,
Some deaths have been reported, allegedly due to this....
Actually it was the ST 1300 that was pulled from service for safety concerns.
