| Description: | We have made the contoured handles long enough for real work tasks. They are still 6061 T6 hard anodized aluminum, CNC machined with a perimeter radius for comfort. A stainless steel locking liner with friction grooves gives positive locking. As in the larger models, premium AUS 8 stainless steel was chosen for blade steel, for its edge retention and durability. All models feature the “Carson Flipper” extension to the blade, which aids opening and acts as an additional blade guard. The M16®-10 models feature Tanto-style blades with dual hollow grinds and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edges. They offer maximum strength in a blade of this size. |
I carry this product inside the trauma plate carrier of my vest for just in case. Its held well under the day tp day use but it doesnt see the extreme use that my regular knife does. I like tanto blades because of the less likely chance of a point breaking and sharpening only one side of the edge. The only dislike its once the knife is opened the new locking pin requires some wrangling to get closed most times with gloves on its not a one handed job
this product deserves rating based upon the many uses tactical or not and its use in the field
I've got one of these which I use for the Army ( I don't think they would like it too much If I carried it in the Prison-JK) It is a very good knife, especially for one handed operations. The only two problems I have had were during contined field use it tended to get gummed up and became diffuicult to open and the main retaining screw once snapped when I was cutting something. What's great though is even with a piece compromised, the knife did remain functional. Also the lifetime warranty is a real plus. I just wrote CRKT, gave them the model # and they sent all new screws free of charge. And I'll be honest, it went through some real abuse before the screw broke. I've used mine everyday for almost 2 years and it's still going strong.
I have 2. I have a big one and a little one...They are AWSOME!!!
I love this knife. I carry it everyday. Nice size to carry, light but powerful. I wish they would make it as a auto open for LE.
I carry this knife like a carry my duty weapon, I never leave home without it. This knife is supper durable. It opens as fast as you want it, and as intimidating as you want it. One thing that stands out, is that I have never sharpened the knife, I've had it 5 years. When my pepperspray runs out, my tazer goes out of batteries, my asp and SL-20 are lost, my pistol is out of bullets, this knife...I would depend on.
Super fast to open not as fast as the Colt M-16K and closing it can be a trick but over all great for field use and stabbing holes in car hoods ;)
I got one for little brother for Christmas 07. I bought it way early so I played around with it and took it to work. Tanto blade comes in handy for cutting boxes and not the contents. Screw comes loose after continual blade deployment. Watch fingers when closing. Belt clip was handy for keeping it on my belt or in pocket. The multiple small and intricate parts seem as if they could lead to failure. I would not recommend this as being used as a 1st line use/defense knife. Easy to hide and quick to deploy. Also not recommended for children.
One of three knives I carry on duty. It is small light and fast. A great hide out/ back up knife, as it is so easy to carry. Under $25 at Wal-Mart, for the price you can not beat it.
i really like the tanto blade knifes
I have both a tanto balde and a spear point balde in the M-16 Zytel series. Can't beat em for the price. Opening is smooth, and the liner lock works well. Hint: make sure the blade is good and clean, and put a drop or 2 of LSA oil (or Break-free CLP, I suppose, for you newfangled gear guys) on the blade shoulder and work it down into where the nylon bearing is. It helps. The tip on my tanto got a little dinged up due to an accidental auto electrical contact. I now carry my spear point as my daily knife off duty. Thinking about it for on-duty as well (right now I carry a Point Guard at work, which I've had longer). I own several CRKT knives, including a couple of fixed blades. Can't go wrong.
These knives are fricking awesome.... carried one in on my IBAS in Iraq, and still carry it every field prob. Darn near indestructible.
I broke the clip on it in the first month, but I am hard on stuff. I really like this knife. I got it at walmart for much less than the listed price above. I replaced the clip with a heavier one from another CRKT knife. Very light weight. I usaully forget I have it.
I just got this knife to use when I start on the streets and I'm very excited about using it. i'm not a huge fan of knives but this one is easy to use and has some great safety features that will come in handy for people like me!!!
