One of the strudiest weapons ever made. It can fire underwater with the barrel bent, with mud in the action. Just doesn't have the accuracy at any real distance. but out to 100 yards it works just fine.

for its price its an extreamly durable rifle. with practice it is just as acurate as the m4 carbine, or m16. rounds are cheaper, and are also harder hitting. they have so many different versions that you can get to customize them. also available in the .223 caliber.

You can run this rifle over and beat it against something and it'll still spit rounds out like a demon. The 7.62 kicks like a mule and will tear through cinderblocks, car doors, and the like. However, it's notoriously bad in the accuracy department; this seems to be used by those with a "spray and pray" mentality. In the hands of a competant user, however, this is a scary piece.

Every one I met using this rifle was never on "our side" yeah its great and it shoots for ever with out stoping but for LEO use it looks bad to the public, nice to use on a day off for some fun trigger time but it would never make it into my car as a patrol rifle, I'd rather have a m4 or m1a

It's a fricken commy gun. It's what our enemy uses to kill our military heroes. So, no matter how well it shoots or how dependable it is, it sux.

As just a firearm this weapon is pretty great, but the stigma is too negative to use it for anything other than target or recreation. Plus a 7.62 would be too big to use in many situations.

I have operated a few of these weapons. They are highly reliable, accurate, sturdy and simple in design. There is nothing fancy about these utility assault weapons but their profile is distinct and instantly recognizable. Great gun!

This gun is infamous and touted as the most indestructable weapon ever made. It may just be. But, I'll take a M-16 anyday.

A cop doesn't need a "spray and pray" weapon, they need a weapon that can put bullets on target 100% of the time, the AK does'nt come close.

As long as there are bullets in it, and you can pull the trigger, this weapon will work.

SHOTGUNS FOREVER!!!!! Nothing says loving like an ounce of hot love or 00 buck. I carry an 870 and an M4 in my patrol with me so I think I have enough firepower should the need arise, but..... I just got an AK not too long ago for a plnker due to the cost of .223 ammo jumping like no other. So far I really like the gun. I have hit everything I've shot at so far. I agree with the masses that this is NOT for the patrol officer. I think the last thing I want is to look like a terrorist when at a gun call and be mistaken for the active shooter. These guns just get a bad rap from their history and the movies/media. The gun I got is a yugo and is in great condition. A buddy has a Mak-90 that, from the looks of it and what he tells me, he doesnt clean it very often nor has he had a malfunction with it. I keep my weapons clean but I also use them very hard, so I like a weapon that will fire each and every time no matter what, and so far I think the AK fits the bill here.

Okay, only two reasons I gave this weapon four stars. One, I hate the sights, and two its pretty heavy. Accuracy is actually pretty damned good if you put an optical sight and get one of the new production models that doesn't use a forged receiver. The reason the AK was so bad at range was because as it fired, the receiver torqued. All the newer models have rectified this. I recently fired an AK-100 series rifle (104 I think). It was pretty damned accurate and I would feel more comfortable behind the 7.62 round than I would behind the 5.56 round.

I give it 5 stars, sights aren't the greatest but fairly accurate if the man your trying to hit is closer than 200 yards.

Great weapon at home but not on patrol. Some of you bad mouth this gun because it is a former Commi gun. Come talk to me when your weapon of choice has served for over 61yrs and 95+% of the worlds conflicts. If God himself carry a rifle into war, it would most likely be an AK47!!!!!

This rifle is a classic that all fighters love and one that has a design that permits it to be employed in the worst of conditions and still funtion reliably. I am a big fan of the US-produced versions put out by Arsenal and certain models made by Century Arms, most notably their Yugo versions with the extra beefy front trunion making them arguabilly indestructible compared to other domestically/foreign produced variants.

I've had my AK-47 for about 5 years. I have shot 1000's of rounds without one problem. It's not very accurate at long distances, but up to 150 yards I've never had problems hitting my target with the factory iron sights. Until my department issues me one of our surplus M16's, my AK-47 is staying in my patrol unit along with my 75 rd. drum magazine.

I was always an AR man, but happened upon a good deal on a Norinco AK last year so I bought it to play with. It has without a doubt impressed me greatly. This weapon requires little to no maintenance. You can abuse the weapon, not clean it, and it will perform the same way every single time. I would imagine this is why it has been used on almost every continent on the earth and is the most produced , most battle tested weapon ever made. I would highly recommend owning one especially for a patrol rifle. It is a good feeling knowing that each and every time you put a round in the chamber and pull the trigger, it will work. No mater what condition the weapon is in.

Ok, I have heard a lot of officers frown on having an AK in the car, but I carry one. They say its wrong because it a common weapon used to kill our troops and as well as officers. I think that is all the more reason to have one! No one wants to be in a shooting situation, but if you gotta be there, have something that is going to get the job done. These are easy to use, load and everything else. The kick is light and they are a pretty dead on shot. Even if you don't want to have one for police purpose, get one just to mess with. They are a blast to shoot.
