The pen(other wise called a kubaton) could be used as a stabbing instrument or a pain inflictor. you could really used either end and jab it into a pressure point and increase pain out put. I think the name of the self defense class is ju ki do(or atleast sound like that heh). great class and with this tool will help convice you subject to come quietly. go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubotan and check it out.

Anything that doubles as a weapon for defense use is good by me. I have a simular pen now, but I'd trade up.
