| Description: | Cold Steel® is famous for raising the bar in the knife industry and our Recon 1® tactical folders are setting a standard that’s hard to beat. Why? Because they are as tough as nails and will cut like a chain saw! Every facet of their construction has been over engineered to make them as strong, durable and effective as humanly possible. The blades are made out of AUS 8A stainless steel that’s been vacuum heat treated and sub zero quenched, and the handles feature G-10 laminate scales, massively reinforced by heat treated steel liners and five locking bolts. To compliment their super tough blades and handles, they each feature our revolutionary Ultra Lock™, which practically precludes lock failure. To compliment their tactical mission, we have given each blade a tough black Teflon® finish. Our testing has shown this coating or finish offers three major advantages for use on tactical blades. The first is; it is highly resistant to scratches and abrasions while keeping rust at bay. The second is; it eliminates glare and light reflections which may give its user away. The third is; it’s a superior lubricant, which causes the blade to slip through even tough material with markedly less friction. This means you can cut deeper and far longer than with a non-Teflon® coated blade. To make the Recon 1® as easy to carry as possible, we have equipped each knife with a small, extra strong pocket clip. This clip is completely ambidextrous so lefties take note. What’s more, its diminutive size doesn’t abrade and irritate the palm under protracted use like a larger clip would. |
Better knife than the Gunsite, very smooth when opening blade.
Cold Steel makes a very good product
Great Product! Smooth opening and tension can easily be adjusted for one hand openings. Shop around, I have seen this knife on the internet for as low as $54 and I paid $119 for mine when they first came out, and it is worth every penny of that.
This is a very light, yet durable knife. Very easy opening, yet you dont have to worry about it opening in your pocket
This is the Glock of Tactical folders. It is utilitarian, with a hard low profile look, excellent durability, with an extremely versatile design. Mine will easily open and close quickly and quietly in any number of one handed grips while maintaining a tight, secure fit. I carry it daily and use it often (Sometimes harder than I would like), but have rarely had to sharpen it. I have knives I paid three times as much for, but if I could only have one tactical folder, this would be it. Cold Steel got this one right!
THIS THING IS A PAPER WEIGHT. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE A RECON 1 GET RID OF IT. THAT SCREW ON THE LOCKING MEC, IF IT COMES LOOSE , IT WILL LOCK UP THE KNIFE AND THE BLADE WILL NOT DEPLOY. I KNOW 90%OF THE TIME YOU WILL USE YOUR BLADE FOR OPENING BOXS OR STUFF LIKE THAT BUT THERE IS GOING TO BE THAT ONE TIME, YOU REALLY NEED IT. FOR THE MONEY GET A CRKT M16,M21 OR IF YOU LIKE THE DESIGN OF THE RECON GET SOG VISION, THERE IS NO SCREW IN THE LOCKING MEC. BUT COLD STEEL MAKES GOOD FIX BLADES SO THAT COM IS NOT ALL BAD
Well made knife. Balanced just about right. You have to know were to look (like Ebay) to get a decent price.
I personally own the Cold Steel Recon -1with Tanto blade. This knife is features smooth opening and closing, and the wonderful Ultra Lock which provides ultimate safety. I really enjoy the durability and ease of use.
