| Description: | In car, dual camera, dual mic digital video recorder. |
My department has 3 of these units. The system is unique in that it is all digital, where the video is recorded onto an Ultra Compact Flash card (comes standard with a 4GB. Our dept. opted for an 8GB card). The recording system is designed as a rearview mirror which replaces your car's mirror. There is no trunk mounting of a recorder. There is a standard Hitachi digital camera mounted forward on the windshield, and a hidden camera in the rearview mirror that faces inside the car for video of prisoner transports. In addition to the external 900mhz mic, there is a second mic to mount in the rear. Also, the video monitor is built into the mirror and not seen unless its activated. There are many standard features, such as interfaces for your radar (displays target speed, patrol speed and lock speed on the recording), lights/siren interface, turn signals and brakes interface, GPS coordinates, and much more. The system is easy to install since there a no long cables or wires to run from the trunk. The CF card is easly removed (keylock included). We use the 8gig CF card which gives about 30 hours of record time. Each officer can "sign into" the system with there own passwords for individual recordings, if the patrol car is shared. I just had this system installed (replaced an analog Kustom Eyewitness). All the features are good, but the LCD in the mirror is very difficult to see during the day. If you try to watch a stop, you have to find a shaded area and it is still hard to see. Otherwise a great product
We also have three of these, still working out the bugs.
Junk! We have two ot these, and for what we paid, we could have done better with anything else. The LCD screen is hard to see during the day. The unit shakes so bad that using for its' purpose of a rear view mirror makes you dizzy. Too many features that are not really needed, GPS, turn signals, brake lights, the list goes on and on. Digital or not, it is not worth the price or the headache!
I have this camera system in my patrol vehicle. I was one of three here in NV to test the system. In the begining I had all kinds of problems with the audio. After numerous visits by Digital Allly reps and several transceivers later the kinks were finally fixed. Overall it's not a bad system. My department also uses the Watchguard System.
