I would have to go with Scarface for a gangster movie. I also like some new ones like the Departed, American Gangster, Eastern Promises. Best mafia movie by far is the Godfather. I really like the TV shows on the History Channel called Gangland. Very informative about gang activities.

the departed, starting matt damen, leonardo dicapio, jack nickloson, and mark wilbourn. its about this mob boss named castello, over the irish mafia(which im half black and irish), who is being targeted by the special investigations division in bostan massachuttus, by the bostan pd(jack nicklson). The boston pd takes this pther guy who was in the police academy(leonardo decapio) and explains to him that since he comes from a family of criminal behavior, they cant trust him to be a cop or somnething like that i guess, but he can still seve and help out by infratrating castellos organization and helping them take him down. The main detective assignd to the case is another guy, who was brought up and raised in an mafia family, but none of his family was ever caught, so one day castello, working under this cops dad at the time, took him in as a friend and eventualyy was able to recruit him. He kelpt him out of trouble until he got old enogh and eventually he becomes an cop, then detective in the special investigations division(it shows that in the movie and this cop is played by matt damen, my faviorite charector in the movie). The cops have no idea that matt damens charector is keeping castello one step ahead of them. Eventually damen kills castello for tring to sell his mob out to the f.b.i during a raid and is discoved by loenardos charector. In an daring standoff with loenado holding matt hostage against one of matts troopers, by the way this is taking place withen the massachuttes state police, matt is an sargent detective, when leonardo gets his head blown off by one of matts other troopers, who is played by the guy who plays chase edmonds off the show 24( which is my absolute faviorite show of all time) then he kills the other trooper, which by the way is played by anthony anderson. Claming he ws also working for castello he frees matt from the cuffs he was being held in and tells matt about castello tring to sell them out and that they would have to look out for each other. Trusting none matt gets a gun and blows his head off. Afterwards he covers it up and actually attends leonardos fueneral. In the end when matt returns home , matt returns home, where mark wilbourn, who also was in matts division and was always suspcios of matt, was waiting for him and kills matt. My faviorite charector!!!! I ghad to exploan it to everyone because i bsolutly love this movie. Im a police explorer and it had me thinking about doing what matt did, but not getting killed, but then i wouldnt be honerable, so no way! But i still love the movie.

I still love Colors. It's ashame that Sean Penn is the way he is; I can't even watch any of his new stuff. But Penn is the epitome of a young city cop full of piss and vinegar. And Robert Duvall was the seasoned veteran of the CRASH unit. I loved them patrolling the gang areas in that yellow car (Pac Man) after they crashed their nice patrol vehicle.

My favorite one is surely "Godfather". The title in Italian was "Il Padrino", but I don't know if it is the precise translation of the English title. "Padrino", in Italian, means "the absolute leader of a family", in "Mafia's language".
Don Vito Corleone had a great sense of honor!
If You read the book (written by Mario Puzo), at the end, You feel a strange sense of respect for Him and his family...

I really can't say I have a favorite. I have loved them all and they are those movies I can watch again and again.
