| Posted 4 months ago In Kansas City it has become a part of our In Service training for this year. Not sure how often it will be in the rotation. |

| Posted 4 months ago I have attended a train the trainer program and other active shooter response classes. I have our officers perform their movements during range qualification. I am also in the process of consolidating a trainning date in June for surrounding depatments who would respond to assist us or vice versa in such a situation. I think every officer should have some knowledge in this case. |

| Posted 4 months ago We hold annual active shooter training. It is incorporated into our firearms and defensive tactics training. We use our high school's wrestling room for our defensive tactics training. We use the school hallways and classrooms to practice the active shooter drills. |

| Posted 4 months ago Well do active shooter training every couple of years. | Posted 4 months ago Our entire department went through the ASAP training in inservice along with detecting booby traps and officer down rescue training. We try to do some type of refresher every 2 years. |

| Posted 4 months ago In my first 2 patrol positions it wasn't mandated, but we did it anyway. Now that I work for the feds we aren't required to go through it, but we can if the locals (city, county and/or troopers) are putting the training together. |

| Posted 4 months ago This has become a must for us and we actually host and instruct this class for surrounding departments. |

| Posted 4 months ago Everyone in our department has to be certified, and at least two per shift have to be instructors... For so long as one hundred men remain alive, we shall never under any conditions submit to the domination of the English. | Posted 3 months ago We taught everyone in the agency during in-service about 3 yrs ago. We then require refresher training which has been once since. Our SWAT guys were the instructors. They brought Paul Howe in and he taught the SWAT boys who then taught us. All of the SWAT guys rave about Howe's class. |

| Posted 3 months ago Everyone has gone through the class... or I should say... almost everyone. Our SWAT officers are also the instructors since they train the technique on a more regular basis. The reality is they most likely won't be the first in on an active shooter situation unless they are on patrol at the time. Answer... yes we do train, but not a set requirement on how often. |

| Posted 3 months ago We addressed this topic almost immediately after Columbine. I was fortunate enough to have trained with the LA SWAT team at that time, and their commander Bob Guillegos (not sure of spelling) was already in the process of creating the Rapid Deployment model. I broght the concept back to my Dept. and As a Department, we embraced the model and the need,so I became an instructor, along with another officer. We then set forth a policy for our department, and now train annually, with surprise in service scenarios periodically throughout the year, plus yearly simunition scenario based training in this area. All of our new officers also receive training in this area (along with some other areas) before they start the FTO process, so as to ensure their proficiency before they even hit the street.

| Posted 3 months ago All of our patrol units have been required to participate in active shooter training. That training was invaluable!! I strongly recommend everyone take this training. It really boosted my self esteem for handling this situation if it ever occurs here. We have only been required to do it once so far and that was last year. I'm hoping we will do it again this year and at least once every year to follow. |

| Posted 3 months ago Well have done the training two times in the past six months. And usually do the training about once every six months. We have been focussing more on command post set up and working with other agencies lately. This has helped to have better control of where officers are and what is needed. I have to admit working a command post during this training is boring but a real learning situation. |

| Posted 3 months ago We go through it at least once every year. |

At my agency in MD we do active shooter training once a year for our SROs. Road officers recieve training about every other year. BE SAFE |

| Posted about 1 month ago In Texas, TEEX thru Texas A&M puts on a class, ALERRT Training. They are training our dept. for 3 weekends to get everyone thru. It's a two day class and simunition is used and is VERY GOOD. I want to say they will go outside of Texas, but not sure...You can go to the TEEX website and get more information. |

| Posted about 1 month ago Our county adopted the active school shooter training class last year (was VERY hands-on and helpful, esp for some of the guys in our dept who hadn't had any tactical experience before.) Not sure how often they are scheduling it on the training calendar - hopefully at least once per year, but that is question, as the training budget is tapped out by Mar or Apr each year until new fiscal year starts over in July. From personal contacts, great training from BW in NC, if you happen go there - very professional and technical edge is over the top from the instructors. |

| Posted about 1 month ago Same with us, photocop - the use of simunitions with our Glock 22's and AR's, along with auditory stimulation (over the PA systems) and use of non-combatant role players mixed in with the perps, made it far better than was originally expected. |

| Posted about 1 month ago Here in Pipestone County, we are required to go to the training every two years. |

| Posted 29 days ago We send everyone thru the training and have refresher training every year, we also practice movement and shooting at range. All thats is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. |

| Posted 28 days ago Having just completed an on campus active shooters training scenerio al I can say is , communicate , communicate comunicate. That was the biggest downfall. It was conducted with Campus Safety, local PD and local fire. I was the mobile commander and the confusion came in when the IAC training was forgotten in the heat of the incident. Practice makes perfect. |

| Posted 27 days ago My department does it and we are scheduled for refresher training annually. |

| Posted 25 days ago Well, I have to say after completing the first day of two of Basic Active Shooter - ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training), it is a must! This class is awesome! I agree with some of the others here, COMMUNICATION is very very important!! |

| Posted 25 days ago And I have to correct my earlier post on here, this class (ALERRT) is actually partnered between Texas State University-San Marcos, te city of San Marcos and the Hays County Sheriff's Office. It is sometimes posted on the TEEX website though. Worth looking into!! |

| Posted 24 days ago Just returned from a 5 day Active Threat Response (Active Shooter) course at Blackwater Training Facility in NC. The training was awsome. The last day we spent the entire day at a local high school using simunitions. There were about 12 role players that added to the reality of the training. I would agree communication is the key. We were deploying multiple teams into the school. Some operations we deployed teams at the same time but at different locations of the school. Other times we were deploying multiple teams at different times. It was also great to train with Officers from other areas of the Country to see how training is done at their prespective agencies.
