My center is looking to replace our dispatch chairs and i am looking for recommendations. Either advice on chairs or a site to buy them from would be appreciated. We are looking for 24 hr chairs with high backs that would hold up for a few years.

Contact the El Paso County, Colorado 911 system. They have this super deluxe chair, but I think they run about $1000.00 each. These are high back, and adjust to every angle, and have air bladders on seat and back. Arm rests go up, down, out and angle forward and backwards. Nice chairs. I don't work for the agency that had them anymore, but they were real happy with them. Not a bad price for what you get.

We have Recaro chairs that were purchased a few years ago and they're trash already, there's no lumbar or seat support and the you have to be at least 6' to use the headrest!! Since the chairs are the second most important piece of equipment dispatchers use, second only to a headset, leather and padding are the way to go... yeah, sure wish we could get those!! LOL That's what I'll add to my wish list... yes!! Seriously, just like everything else - you get what you pay for!!! Good luck and my comfort be with you!

Wish my department would get the chairs Jimroc mentioned!!! I too will have to put that on our "Dispatch Wish List" Only God knows where they got the ones we use over here...lol... not the most comfy things to sit in I know that much!! My back is yelling on my car ride home! Thankfully my I got a seat massager that goes into your lighter outlet in your car for xmas...that comes in good handy on after a long days work!! All I can say is... You know a chair is used way to much when you can see butt imprints on it before you sit down.....HAHAHA

EEEEWWWWWW, LMAO... I have my own "butt pad", hehe... it's just a chair pad but I feel much better sitting on my own but imprints!! We had an *older* dispatcher who was a tad large and he used to sweat A LOT. Everyone hated to sit in the chair he just got out of so I thought, why not... the personal butt pad was in the next day!!

In our case, the personnel who approves our orders for chairs doesn't have a true understanding that these chairs are used 24/7 365 days a year. They don't know why they wear out so quickly...hmmm?! Not rocket science! So they ordered us a few new ones last month, but got a cheaper version of the last chairs we got. Makes no sense! And they are smaller!!

We have these chairs in my comm center, not sure of the name brand or anything, but I will find out. There's a black "bubble" kind of button on the back that inflates/deflates the lumbar support, and the arms go up and down, and fold down flat next to the chair as well. They cost us about $950 a piece. I never have any back trouble sitting in it for a straight 12 hour shift. Makes for happy dispatchers!!! : )

We purchased a few Recaro chairs a couple years ago and have been fairly happy with them, but as Sue says ... if you're not 6ft, the headrest just doesn't quite work - which stinks if you work the overnights like me!!!

We have Herman Miller Aeron chairs in our center. Very comfortable and cool. The mesh is nice. It doesn't absorb body essences like foam chairs do!!

Check around to other dealers. We bought ours on state contract and got a good deal, a lot less than list price.

We have the same problem! Our Chief gets ticked that the chairs get worn out so quick! Hello...there is ALWAYS somebody sitting in one! We also have a couple of "larger" dispatchers and that does not help at all. I also may steal Sue's (PGPD911) idea and get a pillow to sit on : )
