Still love revolvers...back-up gun is a revolver (S&W Chief) and I just ordered a Charter Arms Bulldog in 44 special...time to retire the Chief's, I think!

Hardly see anyone with a wheelgun anymore.

My first issue was a S&W 686 (.357 loaded with issue +P Lead-Semiwadcutters), 4-inch, wooden Coke-bottle S&W grips.

I bought mine from the Department when we switched over to the 3rd-Generation S&W Automatics. I keep it on my nightstand by my bed in case the zombies come for me in my sleep.

I miss revolvers too; Auto's are not nearly as sweet as the old S&W's Revolvers, but they seem to shoot & relaod faster. But I'm happy with the .45 ACP round. I carry a 45 Auto everyday/everywhere now, but also a little J-frame .38 revolver as a backup. Old habits die-hard.

I have a Model 66 with a 3" barrel......used it for a long time for off duty and for details where I didn't need to wear a gun belt to work. It's my favorite gun...and their were only 2500 of them made with a 3" barrel. Tons of them around with 2 1/2" barrels and ton's of 65's out there with 3" barrels.

I too have a 686 4" that I bought when the Highway Patrol switched to 45's back in 91. It is a great gun and was just like the one issued to me by my department at that time. I still shoot better with a revolver, although these two new Glocks I bought a couple months ago are pretty sweet.

I carry the Bulldog off duty and love it. Perfect revolver to use, not to keep all shined up in a velvet lined box. I use Winchester silver tips. Look like trashcans. Almost forgot, get ready to pay a ton for ammo.

S&W model 10 and 19, both .357, Ruger Security Six, stainless in .357..Carried them all when I first started carrry guns for a living but transitioned to Semi, Glock...Honestly, don't see a darn thing wrong with carrying one in todays modern world of policing...especially the 8 rd cylinders.

Somebody told me the number of officers in our departement that still carry wheel guns. We have 800 plus officers and of those, a little over 100 sitll carry revolvers. My FTO carries one and whenI was on the training car, I asked him why, he said, "Because I know I can shoot with it." Good 'nuff. Personally, I'm all about high capacity.

The first departmental issued firearm that I carried was a .38 Cal Browning revolver (old AF survival pistol). It SHAVED like crazy when I went for qualifications and I ended up with a lot of lead in my fingers. The next one I was issued was a S&W .357 Model 19 that I wish I could have purchased. Still have a Chiefs Special as a backup...

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with wheel guns.  When I came to my current department, we still carried revolvers.  I carried a 4 inch S&W 686.  For you youngsters who don't know anything about revolvers (LOL), that's a .357 Magnum.  I loved that gun and kick myself in the rear end every day for selling it.  If I had it to do all over again, I would have NEVER parted with it.  As much as I love my Glock, I still think that 686 is a more dependable gun.  A LOT LESS malfunctions.

I carried a Charter Arms 44special with a 1-7/8" bl. in my back pocket . Light , Small , Always fired , wheel guns don't stove pipe. As a back up you want a gut gun for close quarters combat. The only problem I ever had was the kick force with the small grips would bite you in the web of your hand, when you unloaded all five shots.

When I went thru the Firearms Instructor class, the only handgun that I owned that was dept approved was a S&W M19.... I was the only one in the class qualifying with the wheel gun.... did my best shooting with that particular wheelgun 245/250 score...

The Assistant Instructor came to my defense one day during a particularly rousing set of ribbing from the class when they were all ragging on me for having an antique wheel gun and not a "real" gun (ie 1911-the class fav).... by his stating that my abilities were up to snuff with theirs... and range time showed it

Although I was educated in the fact that revolvers had MORE moving parts than most semi-autos (like 50+ moving parts!)

Revolvers definitely still have their place as a modern defensive handgun.... like Dirty Harry says.... "Man's got to know his limitations...."

I too see nothing wrong with a revolver.  I prefer Glock on duty, and for compatition becuase of reloads, and the ease of carrying more ammo.  I would rather pack a wheel gun then a 1911.  I know I know 1911 best gun ever bla bla, okay goto any defensive pistol of 3 gun match and watch the amount of time the 1911 guys spend with stopages and repairs.   If you see a guy not having any problems with his 1911 ask him how much he has put into his custom gun.  It will be well over $1000.  Not picking on anyone just speaking from experience.

I love revolvers and own several but never carry one as off duty. With Glocks history I'm not worried about a malfunction and six rounds runs out fast in a gun fight, and reloading seams like it takes forever even with a speedloader.

I started my career carrying a Ruger Security Six .357 mag.  I still own it and would still be using it as my duty weapon if dept. allowed it.  I've had too many off duty carry revolvers to mention.

Yesterday was qualification day.  I qualified with my dept. issued Beretta PX4.  I also qualified with my and my tried and true Ruger SP-101 .38spl.  When I was shooting it one of the guys just kinda was watching me.  When I was done he asked to look at my piece.  He had actually never handled a revolver.  I showed him how it worked and how to load and unload.  He asked me why I qualify with it since I also qualify with two small autos.  I told him it is because it will ALWAYS go bang and there is nothing that shoots like a revolver.  One of the range instructors chimed in and agreed with my assessment.  I let the young guy run some rounds through my ol Ruger.  Once he learned how to properly load and unload it he ran several cylinders full of ammo through it.  I think he wants a revolver now LOL.

I started in the AF with the S&W Model 15 survival pistol, .38 special. I liked it so much I bought a revolver for my first weapon, S&W Model 36 .38 special. Small J frame I will use it  for one of my CCW guns when I get back to Utah. The AF converted to the Beretta 92 9mm in the late 80's and I first fired it in 1992 and haven't liked it since. I fired expert with it, it is not a bad weapon, but I prefer my Springfield XD 40 in semi auto. Not really a Glock fan, but I rather have that in any caliber then the Beretta.

My first duty weapon was a S&W Mod 15 .38 spc, next was a Ruger  Sec. Six .357 Mag, and ending with a Sp[ringfield Armory 1911 .45. I still have my wheel guns, including a S&W .22 magnum. Plus my other semi toys.

Not as a duty weapon (which is a Sig Sauer 357SIG 2022) but when I shot competition, I used a S&W 686 w/ 6" brl - great weapon and I enjoyed shooting it.  Still own a few wheel-guns for range time, but not carried.
