Posted 8 months ago What curriculum are you using? What do you like about it, what are it's weak points? Go out today and preach the gospel, and if you must, use words. St. Francis of Assisi |

| Posted 8 months ago We use a combination between the A Beka and our own here. The strong point is the ABeka gives you a good starting point to go off of and then to contiue on your own. However, it is really expensive as far as my budget goes, but cheaper than tuition. |

| Posted 8 months ago I basically put together my own curriculum, but closely based upon what the state of Alabama requires for the particular grade level, although I'm not required to. I have done extensive research on the grade levels and curriculum requirements per State Board of Education guidelines and purchase said curriculum from learningthings.com after a quick review of each course. My oldest son, 8 years old, absolutely loves homeschooling, he has never been in the public/private schools. My youngest son, 4 years old, seems to be certainly absorbing and learning as his older brother does and the youngest hasn't officially started his homeschooling yet. |

| Posted 8 months ago trace1, I think you are wrong about the youngest one, My guess is that he/she is learning from both big brothers and from you too, much more than you are aware of. Kids catch on really fast. On a different tack, has anyone ever tried video or satellite home school classes? My daughter did a year (4th grade?) of VHS video school and loved it, Her little brother (3yrs younger) also sat and watched and learned a tremendous amount, which put him way ahead of his regular lessons. | Posted 7 months ago I am 32yrs old. I was home schooled from 6th grade on. During that time we used several different curriculums, one that I can remember was Abeka, it was one of my favorites from the student point of view. |
