Posted 8 months ago In 1988 I started off in the 3707 BMTS, admitted I played trumpet and was immediately sent to 3706 BMTS (affectionaly referred to as 'beat & blow'). I did my academy at Lackland and M60 specialist school too. Then I went to the lovely, cold, wet sandy forest, for ABGD at Fort Dix, NJ (years later I went back for level II)... and then- finally- I was stationed at Minot AFB, ND, which was SAC at the time and I was assigned to the 857th SPS. We later became ACC and the 5th SFS. 1988-1998. I also did a stint at Howard AFB in Panama--- Why? Just Because... (kidding - I didn't get there until after, but I witnessed the damage - OMG) LOL Oooh-Rah! |

| Posted 8 months ago After Lackland, of course, I was sent to Loring AFB, Maine. B-52 SAC mission. 42nd SPS Ramp Rats. The only place I have heard was just as bad was Minot, ND. If you like snow, Loring is where you should have gone. I lived on the first floor of the dorms and by mid-winter, could not see out of my window. When Loring changed the mission from nuke to convetional, I got out. |

| Posted 8 months ago Hey guys? "ONLY THE BEST COME NORTH" sound familiar to anyone? It's still the base motto (Minot AFB) or whatever. ART/SRT/CIS/CBS then later EC, Tower (SPCCDS/BISS whatever you call it now, I don't know... MAFB doesn't even have 'towers' anymore), then CSC. I did a stint as NCOIC Elite Gate Guard, and I worked in WSS. A little of everything, I guess. |
