Posted 3 months ago Is it the money? The power behind the badge? Do you have a genuine need to keep peace & order around you?

| Posted 3 months ago Because I couldn't get a job at McDonalds. Seriously you are being presumptuous in asking if any Leo is in it for the 'Power behind the badge" Anyone in this profession who does it for that reason is at best a marginal officer. As far as money if it were the money I sure wouldn't have done this job. What money? Peace and order around me? Again in this job there is anything but.. You need to figure out the correct question and then I think you will find the answers you may be looking for. Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue. -Senator Barry Goldwater |

| Posted 3 months ago I'm a warrior. I cant really see myself doing anything else... really, just cant even imagine in a day dream. I've always invisioned and placed myself into a position that of a warrior, protector, guardian of justice and our way of life. Everything you do can get you killed, including doing nothing at all. |

| Posted 3 months ago Because I 've never liked bullies! People shouldn't have to put up with them, and God knows I'm willing to be a bully buster. Jail to all bullies, no matter their form. Thief, Murderer, Robber, Sex offender, it matters not, they are all bullies in some form or fashion. First I incarcerate them and then I pray for their conversion; hoping they come out better that they went in. Those that can't come out again or shouldn't ever come out again( the murderer and the sex offender) , I just pray for their peace in side prison walls. FOREVER behind prison walls. Peace, Ice |

| Posted 3 months ago To speak and to fight for those who can't do it for themselves. Because someone has to run to what others are running from. Someone has to stand watch so others can sleep in peace. To help protect the rights people died to attain for us. If not me then who? I respectfully request Nikk and Henry be brought back as moderators please. PAIN IS WEAKNESS LEAVING THE BODY! |

| Posted 3 months ago To put on the badge. To swear to tell the truth and mean it. To uphold the value of the constitution. To support the laws. To stand up and fight for the meek and needy. To secure the publics trust. To wave at a kid in the car next to you. To represent your community in all that is right. To know that your work is honorable. To be proud of your profession. I'm in. |

| Posted 3 months ago The genuine need to try and control the uncontrollable.....thats a good summary statement, it entails a lot. This vocation chose me, I didn't choose it. It was a calling, really. I always had a sense about me that I should be doing this. I was always at peace with this choice, and can't see myself doing anything else until retirement. | Posted 3 months ago I wanted a pony and dinnint get one. I then wanted a Tickle Me Elmo, and dinnint get that either. So, then I said I wanted a badge and a semi-fast car as an afterthought. When I went to my agency they said, "Oh, you must be the guy who didn't get the pony and the Tickle Me Elmo. Yeah, we heard you might be around. Here's your badge and semi-fast car." It's ok that I dinnint get a pony or Elmo. The stuff my agency gave me is ok. They also threw in a gun, too. What I am suppose to do with that? I hope it's not to shoot a pony or an Elmo. (I'm not really a LEO but a ROGER, as in 'Roger That'. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.) 'Scuse me but I need my lithium ... 10-8.... | Posted 3 months ago Chicks dig the uniform. Just kidding. I've seen this question so many times, it's getting old. I'm not sure which is posted more, the Security "why don't LEO's like us?" or this one. Sorry tigerlilly, I've had a nasty week which concluded with a 2 DOA MVC major and a crispy critter this morning. I leave you with this. Being an officer or deputy is a calling. It's not about the badge, gun, or the low pay. Some of us are just cut out for the job. |

| Posted 3 months ago I don't know the answer to this. I've been asked over and over in interviews and such and I still don't have a straight answer. Law enforcement is just what feels right to my heart. |

My Dad is a retired CHP officer and my mom has been a 911 operator for 20+ years. I couldnt imagine having a real job. This one is fun, rewarding, exciting and a million other things I love. |

| Posted about 1 month ago TigerLilly says ... Is it the money? The power behind the badge? Do you have a genuine need to keep peace & order around you? Why did you get into law enforcement? I grew up around it, also when I was a little punk, I had a Chips uniform and rode my bike around acting like John from the show. My dad was a MP, my cousin was one of the first State Police in my area, and then Sheriff for 3x. I feel it is what I was ment to do. Its a calling, I just followed it. |
