Posted 2 months ago Anyone help with Dodge Charger usage? Need info from depts that use the 6 cylinder Charger. Gas mileage, maintenace, and problems. We have 2 Chargers already but would like additional info from other depts. |

| Posted 2 months ago I have not personally driven them, but I have talked extensively with those who have. Those who had the 6 cylinder are already phasing them out for the Hemi 8....transmission burnout due to lack of raw horsepower. The 6 is not as fast as Chevy Impala 6 cylinder, but Hemi 8 blows everyone away. You can contact Wisconsin State Patrol...they have both. | Posted about 1 month ago I currently drive a Dodge Charger 6 cylinder. I have not had any problems with mine. My Sheriff did not want the Hemi. We have had several of them with serious transmission problems. I talked to the Dodge mechanic at the dealership and he said that has been a lot of them come in for problems, but not all for the same reasons. |

| Posted about 1 month ago My pov is a Dodge Charger 6 cylinder, and I like it okay. My dept has 9 Chargers coming in from a company out of Dallas. We did the specs, in comparison to the Crown Vics. The 6 cylinders get about 12-13 mpg on average. 0-60 is about the same. The 6 cylinders actually have more horsepower than the Crown Vic 8 cylinders, and get better gas mileage. The Chargers are great for working in the city. From 0-60 there really isn't a difference between the 6 cylinder Charger, and teh 8 cylinder Crown Vic. That said it handles better than the Crown Vic, and drives better. The 8 cylinders get about 8 mpg, but are incredibly fast. One of our local deputies ( I won't say which dept) got it up to 170, and it had plenty of room to go. If you want, I could probably get all the information that we used to make our determination to go to the Chargers. I have heard that Dodge is not going to make the police version of the Charger anymore. This is rumor only; I don't have any direct knowledge of this.
Oh yeah, one other thing. Dodge did us a favor by making aluminum hoods. You'll love this in your first hail storm. I only bring this up because my pov suffered 1400.00 worth of damage from a pretty mediocre hail storm. |

| Posted about 1 month ago I do a lot of transports and have been getting about 30 mph out of my Dodge Charger 6. I will check and see what I get just running around town. |
