| Posted 6 months ago Always a good time! I went in 2000 and 2002 and stayed at the Carribean Village both times. If you get a chance, check out Isla Mujeres! It takes an hour or so to get there by boat but it's a nice day trip with some great shopping. P.S. Drink a Dos Equis for me! |

| Posted 6 months ago Cancun isn't too much different to me than Ft Lauderdale. So very commercialized. If you want a much nicer and cheaper vacation then travel on down the coast a bit to Playa Del Carmen or across to Cozumel. Both of those places are very safe and much, much cheaper. They also still have the Maya flair. We have even considered living in either of those two places. |

I know what you mean. I have been 5 times, and stayed in Cancun only once. The rest we stayed in Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen. It's got more of the culture and it was a huge difference from having a drunk college kid almost vomit in the elevator. |

I've been wanting to go. Are there any private/all inclusive resorts there? Is it safe to travel alone?? ~ Live Simply. Love Generously. Care Deeply. Speak Kindly. Leave the rest to God. |

| Posted 4 months ago Only been there once and paid for it the following two weeks after I came home. I would rather go to Atlantis in the Bahamas. You never have to leave the property! Being a Tyrant does not make one a Leader! |

| Posted 4 months ago Cancun was my second vacation outside of the US. We went in early May, right after Spring Break officially ended. The whole tourist zone felt like it was taking a deep breath. We stayed at the north end of Cancun where we had all the sand and beach we could want at a quaint little place called Ambience Villas. We were in the shadows of Riu Palace and a El Presidente but always had beach chairs, palapas, room in the pool, and quiet when we needed it. We walked the beach a few times to be shocked how much exposed rock there was at the higher end Sun Palace, Moon Palace, Riu Resorts, where hurricanes have taken the sand sout to Playa Del Carmen (Next year's destination). Our activites were hanging around the beach of course, snorkeling trip to Xel-Ha is not to be missed, deep sea fisihing whre we caught mahi mahi, Tuna, Bonito and a barracuda. DId an ATV ride into the beach and jungle and it was awesome. Not really into clubbing, Hard Rock Cafe was cool. Our resort the Ambience, was the best. Older but on the beach, clean but dated rooms, we got breakfast paid for and we hunted for dinner and we were usually too full for lunch. Needless to say, I loved the place, there are things to do outside the resort,. I have pics of the vacation on my profile page. |

| Posted 3 months ago We're headed to Cancun in 14 days & can't wait. We went last year by ourselves but could only stay for 4 nights 5 days. Didn't get to do any of the excursions, so my question is what do you suggest? We've got a group of 8 going for 7 nights 8 days this time. We've definitely been thinking about the 4 wheeler ride into the jungle and snorkeling, but what else is just not to be missed??? We may hit a club or two, but we're more content to relax & enjoy our stay instead of fighting crouds etc.... Any input would be great! |

| Posted 3 months ago Go to the lobby of the Ambiance Villas and talk to Xavier. He will give you the only strait no B.S. on what is on the tours because he has gone on them. He knows what is a deal and what is B.S. We never went wrong with him. The guys at the strip malls--keep walking! I did the Rio Loma Ranch ATV ride and it was worth the money--if you know how to ride, get behind the leader or eat a lot of dirt. Did 6 hour Deep Sea fishing, worth it! Isla Mujers only bad thing on the trip and wont go back (got ripped off $20 on a golf cart rental). If you go, bring your driver's license to rent one.

| Posted 3 months ago ok so i did the 4 wheeler ride in the jungle/beach... although fun for me and my husband... not my cup of tea afterwards digging sand out of every part of our bodies. next day there was still sand everywhere. when (not if) i go back, doing the ruins instead or maybe some deep sea fishin. never wanted to come home that was for sure... enjoy! |

| Posted 3 months ago Thanks everyone! Thanks so much for the tips. I'm pretty sure we'll hit the ATV ride & I'm hoping to hit one of the ruin trips also. One last question.....which ruin trip is the best??? |

| Posted 3 months ago This is the one I did: http://www.viator.com/tours/Cancun/ATV-Tour-from-Cancun/d1010-2895CANATV There is a pool at the end of the ATV ride and you can get nice and clean, then eat a nice meal before the bus ride back. The same place also has PWC ocean rentals and horseback riding. I thought I got my moneys worth out of it. |

| Posted 2 months ago The only ruins I have been to is Tulum. We did this tour where you spent half the day at Tulum and then went to Xel-ha (an ecological park) to cool down. The only problem we had was that it was really hot, but we went in July so it should be cooler now. We also didn't feel like we had enough time at Xel-ha and had to rush to get to scheduled activities. Have fun! |
